RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Sep. 2015 present

Postdoctoral Fellowship, Ryerson University, Center for Sustainable Energy

Systems (CSES):

Working in the second part of the project (Design optimization and performance
characterization of an air source heat pump system coupled with building integrated
photovoltaic-thermal (BIPV/T) collectors) with Ecologix Inc., first part was related
to my PhD thesis.

Leading and assisting a Master student to conduct the experiments to obtain data to
optimize the design and characterize the performance of the heat pump.

Participating in developing the course material/curriculum of the undergraduate

course (Environmental Impact of Thermal Systems)

Writing the proposal for several future research projects (so far 3 proposals were
completed and submitted)

Conducting research on the Mitacs/TRCA/SUMARAN Inc. project titled:

Monitoring and Assessment of Net Zero Energy Home and Net Zero Energy
Ready Home. The research objectives are to assess energy and comfort
performance and to identify options for optimizing performance by developing
detailed TRNSYS models for Townsend and Valleyview homes, including the
ASHP and HPWH systems.

Sep. 2011 Aug.2015

Graduate research assistantship, Ryerson University, Centre for Sustainable

Energy Systems (CSES):
2

Performed conceptual design requirements to build full-scale testing facility at

Kortright Centre for the combined BIPV/T system and air source heat pump project

Prepared and designed the detailed integrated system (PV/T dimensions, duct
design, dampers, sizing fan)

Developed an energy modelling of the combined system of PVT collector and

ASHP in building envelop and characterized the energy performance using
TRNSYS software
Create/modify PV/T component type source code for the TRNSYS simulation
software
Estimate the thermal energy production, electricity production from the PV/T
arrays. The energy produced from the PV/T system during sunny hours was
used to size diurnal thermal storage.
Evaluate the associated cost with the deployment of BIPV/T+ASHP and their
potential savings in energy cost and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission.
Performed the feasibility analysis of the integrated BIPV/T+ASHP system and
analyse of overall energy performance and potential reduction in electricity
demand for heating
