BAU - Bridge Alarm Unit
The BAU is mounted on the bridge. It provides basic information to
the staff on the bridge. It includes a LCD display, a buzzer and keys.
Alarms and warnings are indicated and can be acknowledged
pressing the ACK key. A SAVE (save the last 12 hours) can be
initiated using the SAVE key.

3.2 Standard data interface modules


The standard interface modules are interchangeable (same form factor). They fit into the slots in a
module rack. However, not all combinations are supported.
A serial or audio half slot module fits into the DAUs extension slot.
Notice, that the Video Acquisition module is not defined as a standard module it is therefore
described in section 3.2.6.
The interface modules are connected to the main CPU system in the DPU or to the backplane in a
Module Rack using a short internal Ethernet cable rather than using conventional bus system.
Wear and tear caused by vibration and other environmental stress is therefore minimized.
Modules can be hot swapped i.e. exchanged while the system is operating.
