and you can receive the files through the Windows Hyper Terminal program. The rate is
9.6/14.4Kbps;
You can end the file transmission by inputting the command +++ on the window of Hyper
terminal program. If OK is displayed, then you could input the command ATH to

NO CARRIER is displayed, it means the call fails. You need to input the command again
to dial up;
After the call succeeds, you can transmit the files through the Windows Hyper Terminal
program. The rate is 9.6/14.4Kbps;
You can end the file transmission by inputting the command +++ on the window of Hyper
terminal program. If OK is displayed, then you could input the command ATH to

7 PC Fax
7.1 Function Introduction
This is a convenient & efficient fax transmission method. In this method you can use PC to send
or receive a fax. There are three advantages for this method:
You can send or receive a fax as long as the other party has a fax machine (even there is no
PC);
You can transmit the file in different formats such as PDF, DOC, TXT, or even JPG, etc;
You can scan a file and meanwhile fax it to the other party as long as your PC is connected
with a scanner. Please refer to the help document of WinFax program (or other fax program)
for details.
Note:
There are various kinds of fax programs. This document takes WinFax program as an
example to explain how to set up the fax function correctly.
You must make the following preparations before using this method:
1 First, use USB cable to connect the FWP with PC.
2 Install WinFax program on your computer, and choose ZTE USB Modem 3197 and choose
Class2.0 Send/Receive Fax/Modem setting.

3 After WinFax is
installed, enter the
ToolsProgram
Setup.

Enter Dialing and Location setup:

Detect busy tone and Detect dial tone should be unchecked in

General tab.

Select Dial as entered in Location tab.

Enter Modems and Communications Devices setup:
Connection Device is ZTE USB Modem 3197. Confirm the properties as
follows:

COM port is set to the port connected with the data line,
Initial rate is 19200bps,
Modem type is Class 2.0,
Enable Use hardware flow control,
And choose connected to Regular or Cellular(PCS/GSMdigit).

Please input the receivers number on the interface of WinFax program; at this point "Fax
Data Call XX:XX(time)" appears on the screen;
Please firstly exit from WinFax program (completely exit from system task bar at the
right-down corner) when you dont use this data service, and then return to the voice service
(refer to section 8).

7.3 Fax Receiving

Enter the main menu, select [Data Service] and then [Fax Rcv Onc](receiving fax once) or
[Fax Rcv All] (receiving fax all along);
Activate Auto Answer in WinFax program, and at this point other FWP or G3 fax machine
could send a fax to this FWP. The FWP receives the fax after ringing. At this point "Fax Data
Call XX:XX(time)" appears on the screen;
Please firstly exit from WinFax program (completely exit from system task bar at the
right-down corner) when you dont use this data service, and then return to the voice service
(refer to section 8).

8 Return to Voice Service

When using data services, you cannot make or receive a call (except your phone is in sleep mode
of high-speed internet access). If you want to return to voice service, firstly disconnect the current
network connection and the application programs at PC end (WinFax, Hyper Terminal, etc) and
make sure to select [Voice/ 1X Pkt] in the data service menu. You can make or receive a call when
