FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
COURSE FORMAT
Lecture
Lectures are given to cover the basic concepts and fundamental principles of related topics. Reading and
reference materials for standard codes and practices as well as relevant worked examples will be provided.
Students are expected to have a self-study about 3 5 hours per week.
Practical
Students in a team of three to five members will engage in an integrated design process to produce a selected
product. The development of the design will be from a conceptual form to a practical blue print/production
drawing.
This is continued in Mechanical Engineering Design 2 in the following semester where students are engaged in
material acquisition, fabrication, assembly, and finally test and inspection of the finished product.
