Caliber 45 Safety Lock: Left-handed People

Description:
Guns have different uses. Whether for hunting, self-defense or competitive shooting
sports, lives will always be at risk. The most common type of gun that is widely used in the
Philippines, especially by the officers of military and police, is the Caliber 45.
Caliber 45 is an effective combat pistol cartridge that combines accuracy and stopping
power for use against human targets. The cartridge also has relatively low muzzle blast and flash,
as well as moderate recoil. The standard issue military .45 ACP round has a 230 grain bullet that
travels at approximately 830-950 feet per second when fired from the government issued barrel.
In the proposal, the researchers focused on the Caliber 45 Safety Lock that is being used
by left-handed people. See Figure 1.1 Caliber 45 Safety Lock (Right Side) and Figure 1.2 Caliber
45 Left Side

Figure 1.1 Caliber 45 Safety Lock (Right Side)

Figure 1.2 Caliber 45 Left Side

The researchers will conduct surveys amongst the left-handed users in police and military
about the accidents that happened that have a connection with the Caliber 45 Safety Lock. In
addition, the researchers will propose modifications for Caliber 45 that will suit the left-handed
users.

Problem Statement:
Caliber 45 Safety Lock is not easily accessible for left-handed users.

Rationale:
The solution of the study will benefit the left-handed users, mainly the people in military
and police, of Caliber 45. The risk of mishandling the gun will be lessen and the danger in
certain situations will be handled responsibly and properly.

Public Utility Vehicles via NLEX - Easytrip Electronic Tag

Description:
Easytrip Services Corporation is half owned by EGIS Group, a leading transport and civil
engineering company with major strengths in high-speed railway lines, motorways, port
terminals, etc. The company is also partly owned by the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation,
a conglomerate owned and managed by Manny V. Pangilinan.
The company offers unique tag subscriptions for Class 1, 2 and 3 at NLEX. See Figure
2.1 Easytrip Electronic Tag.

Figure 2.1 Easytrip Electronic Tag

Public Utility Vehicles, travelling via NLEX, are the top priority consumers of this
service. But since most of them are not using it, the researchers will conduct surveys as to what
reasons why they still choose the traditional way of paying toll fees and will also propose a more
user-friendly interface if necessary.

Problem Statement:

Many PUVs choose the traditional way of paying toll fees rather to use the Easytrip
Electronic Tag services.

Rationale:
The study will benefit all the Public Utility Vehicles travelling via NLEX by lessening
the waiting time in paying toll fees and availing different services. In lieu of this benefit, the
traffic will also be improved.

TV Remote Control

Description
In this generation, almost every house has a television set. Included with the TV is a
remote control that can be used to change different settings such as the channel and volume.
Using the TV remote control makes it less hassle whenever the user wanted to change
something.
Some of the TV sets that the consumers use nowadays are old and outdated. Only few of
household families owned Smart TVs since they come very expensive in the market. With this
scenario going on, the researchers figured out that many buttons in the TV remote control are not
being used, specifically with the old and outdated TVs.
In lieu with this, the researchers will conduct surveys regarding the buttons that are only
necessary and will propose a new design if possible. See Figure 3.1 TV Remote Control

Figure 3.1 TV Remote Control

Problem Statement
The TV remote controls have too many buttons which are not being used most of the
time.

Rationale
The solution of this study will benefit the consumers who do not really understand and
use most of the TV remote control buttons. In addition, the elders will also benefit this study
since the researchers will propose a more user-friendly and easy to use TV remote controls
design.

City of Malolos, Bulacan Footbridge (In front of Bulacan State University Main Gate)

Description
Footbridge is built to link two areas so people can go to one place to another without
being interrupted by any vehicles. This infrastructure is also build to assure the safety of the
pedestrians.
Although the people are aware of using the footbridge, many still prefer to cross the
highways without the use of it. This makes the lives of the pedestrians in danger.
According to 2014 statistics released by the GMA Network, at least 16 pedestrians per
day are included in accidents. This makes a total of at least 5760 pedestrians in a year.
In this proposal, the researchers will conduct surveys to know the reasons behind these
scenarios and they will also find the best solution that will definitely help the people.

Problem Statement
Pedestrians prefer not to use the footbridge that make their lives at risk.

Rationale
The accidents will be lessened and the pedestrians will be more comfortable using the
footbridge.

Cash Deposit Machines

Description
Every generation has improvement in different systems. Nowadays, almost all things in
this world are made or done using computers. Even bank transactions can now be done using
different machines.
The Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) is a self-service terminal that lets you make deposits
and payment transactions by cash. All successful transactions are immediately credited and
customers will be issued an advice slip confirming the transaction. In order to use the CDM,
customers need to have either Debit Card or Credit Card or to just know his card number (Debit
Card or Credit Card).
In 2012, the banks here in the Philippines started to have Cash Deposit Machines. See
Figure 4.1 BPI Cash Deposit Machines

Figure 4.1 BPI Cash Deposit Machine

But up until to this day, some of the customers are not aware of it. Many card holder
depositors and other customers who have payment transactions are hesitant in using the new
machines. They are still using the manual or traditional way even if it requires them extra time
and effort.
This is the reason why the researchers proposed to have this studied in able to come up
with different solutions on how will the customers become familiarized on the new system. The
researchers will conduct surveys and different approaches to find the best possible solution.

Problem Statement
Card-holder customers are still using the traditional way of depositing cash and payment
transactions.

Rationale
The study will be beneficial to all the banks card-holder customers that are still using the
traditional way of depositing and payment transactions. The result will save the time and the
effort of the customers and will also lessen the work load of the bank tellers.

I.D Card System Bulacan State University

Description
very university has a huge number of people entering including the students,
E
professors, and the persons who are working in the university. One common policy of every
school is the NO I.D, NO ENTRY. Although this is common to all, this policy is still not
properly executed.
Bulacan State Univerisity has 3 entering points. Every gate has at least 2 guards who are
in-charge of checking if all the people who will enter the premises has their I.D. Although the
guards are checking it securely, there are still cases of people who are able to go inside the
university without their IDs. Apart from disobeying the policy of NO ID, NO ENTRY, the safety
inside the remises is also at risk.
This is the main reason why the researchers are planning to propose an ID Card System
for the entire university. See Figure 5.1 ID Card System

Figure 5.1 ID Card System

The Identification Card will act as a beep card. Having this system will ensure the
security of the university and this will make sure that the policy of NO ID, NO ENTRY will be
properly executed.

Problem Statement
People are able to enter the university premises even without an ID.
Rationale
This study will ensure a safety learning environment to all the students and to all the
university employees.
