Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India

presented in Table 2.10. The
States/UTs which reported more
than the AllIndia average under
two major causes of suicides i.e.

illness and Family Problems are grouped in the Table 2(F). Twelve
States/UTs have reported higher percentage share than the All India
average in suicides with causes such as illnesses. Similarly, seven
States/UTs have reported higher share than the All India average in
suicidescausedduetoFamilyProblemsduringtheyear

The other States/UTs which reported higher

share of suicides due to illness were A&N Islands
(29.1%), Andhra Pradesh (28.9%), D & N Haveli
(28.6%), Puducherry (27.8%), Karnataka (27.1%),
Tamil Nadu (26.3%), Maharashtra (24.5%), Gujarat
(24.2%), Goa (20.4%), Kerala (20.0%). Amongst the
various causes of illness, maximum of suicides were
committedduetoInsanity(5.9%).

Uttar Pradesh were due to Suspected/Illicit Relation.
6.5%suicidesinSikkimfollowedby2.3%inHimachal
