The Importance of School Identity

School is a place where everyone can get their knowledge besides daily experiences. Every
school has their own identity to show the differences between the first school and the other.
What do you think about school characteristic? What is the meaning of identity? Is it
important? Linda Lumsden and Gabriel Miller once wrote, Uniforms by themselves cannot
solve all of the problems of school discipline but they can one positive contributing factor to
discipline and safety. School identity in general is good as school symbol. In my point of
view, showing school identity is important because the character of school is needed and
there are four benefits of school identity. They are enhanced school safety such as improve
learning climate, higher self esteem for students, and less stress on the family.
Uniform as school identity can give the description about the school itself either it is Red and
White (Elementary School), Blue and White (Junior High School), and Grey and White
(Senior high School). Besides the color, it can describe about the quality of the school. For
example the A well-known high school is orange but the other is grey. The orange uniform
will have good description as the best quality in education than the grey one. But if people
see what Lumsden and Miller said about uniform itself, uniform is such clothes that can find
anywhere but cannot solve everybodys problem. The good school identity will have good
mark in education field. Uniform is not the only one to get higher mark but the students
characteristics and also the students and schools achievement are one of the suitable way to
give mark that the school has good identity.
