Summary
The first idea of the text book, is that communication is a two-way process,
and therefore an interaction. So, if we want to communicate information to another
person, you need to consider the way that audience will learn. Silverman (1998)
describes that people learn best when they are motivated, recognize their need to
learn, and are actively involved, among others. Hall & McCrorie, said that this
process is very similar to the way that a doctor gives information to their patients.
So Doctors can apply the same principles to their presentation meetings. So, whats
important? Well, the authors refer to three phases in given a successful presentation
meeting.
First of all, this authors says that you have to prepare the presentation, for
this purpose you need to know your audience. Is important because this will let you
know how much they know about the subject that you are going to expose. Also,
you have to control the level of anxiety. On this situation, deep-breathing exercises
can help. Another good practice is to rehearse your presentation. This will let you be
more confident about your presentation and will let you know how long will take it
to say your entire exposition. Most of the people would practice with some
colleagues for feedback too. Is very useful prepare some prompt cards where you
put the main ideas and key words that you are going to say in your exhibition.
Finally, is always recommendable to check out the venue and equipment, for this is
always recommendable came early and try to check all device of the presentation
room.
In another hand, for the content himself, you need to have a beginning, a
middle and an end in your presentation. In the end is important to make some
closure to repeat the main ideas of your presentation. Another subject, that the
book describe, is the relevance of put all the presentation in a specific context.
Because having a context, through which new information can be related to existing
knowledge will results in better memory recall. Making your presentation more
effective.
Finally, Delivery. The personal style of the presenter can make a huge
difference. For example, always be aware of your non-verbal language. Try to use
some jokes, or anecdotes to grab the attention of your audience. During your
presentation is important, also, the way that your delivery information. Try to make
a presentation clear and simple. Where you put the main ideas of the presentation,

and not all the information. Remember, this is a guide for your audience, not for
yourself.
In summary, therere three phases and each of this has different elements to
pay attention. A good presentation Is the result of a careful process.
