The piece discussed in this paper is entitled Fusion.

The abstract artwork was made on

February 18, 2015 for an activity in Art Stud I and was created with color pastel in an oslo paper.
It was conceptualized while the artist was listening a playlist of slow music. The artist took the
inspiration of the artwork from the lyrics and music of the song Opened Once of Jeff Buckley.
The song of the late singer was of melodramatic tune paired with a deep emotional lyrics. The
artist interpreted the whole song as a story of man filled with the euphoric feeling of love, but
was also covered of sadness and uncertainty due to going through a change of his own identity.
As the artist listened to the music, he envisioned a picture of dark elements in a collision path.
He further imagined a reaction from the collision of the dark elements and saw a burst of light,
glad and relaxed elements which were sort of ironic at first.

The piece is composed of diagonal convex lines originating from the two sides of the
paper with different thickness, weight and stroke. The lines originating from the sides of the
paper up to the near center, where the lines starts to converge, were of colors black and blue.
From the start of the convergence, red and green lines continue the path of the black and blue
lines. An obvious change in curviness can be observed from the middle portion of the red and
green lines making a heart-like figure when the lines from the two sides meet. A figure made of
lines with sharp changes in direction at the center completes the elements of the piece. From the
sides, the lines were greatly intense in terms of color. As the line progresses, slow lightness in
weight and intensity was observed Sharp changes in directions of the lines gives a chaotic
impression. Moreover, the achromatic nature of the figure gave a sudden reversion to of the
mood Spaces between lines have a shadowlike black shades which gives the image of still
having the spaces empty.
It has an Overall the lines created an illusion of movement with a gradual change from the start
then the motion of the lines starts to be faster. The motion stopped when the line reaches apex of
the heart like figure formed where lines intersected the second time and was replaced by a more
intense feeling. c
