This week year 11's will be reviewing
the test papers that they sat last week. I gave all students 2 out of the 3 new specification papers to sit. When marking them it was apparent that a number of year 11's did not prepare for their assessments. I was concerned that only 2 students took their books home with them last week with their topic list and notes that would have helped them to prepare. I will be going over the papers in class this week but I will be collecting them in afterwards. For homework over half term I will be giving these 2 papers out again for students to do at home. It would be really useful if you could support by encouraging them to do it under exam conditions. It is important that in year 11 students prioritise their study right from the start. I would expect 3 hours of revision to be taking place on a weekly basis. Every student should have a topic list from the test papers that they have just sat. I will be directing them to focus on 5 topics to master independently before the December assessment, these will be topics that we have already covered in class.

This week pupils will be performing
experiments relating to the action of enzymes in the digestive system of humans. The homework will be GCSE questions related to this; there are 3 levels of questions, from which pupils should do a minimum of 2.
