Afirmativa
A forma afirmativa igual ao infinitivo dos verbos em todas as pessoas, com
exceo da 3 pessoa do singular (he/she/it) em que temos que lhe acrescentar
um s.

Nota: H situaes especiais

Quando o infinitivo do verbo acaba em -o, -ss, -sh, -ch ou -x
acrescentamos es.
Nos verbos terminados em consoante + y, o y
passa a i e acrescentamos es.

Negativa
Sujeito + dont / doesnt + infinitivo

Situaes permanentes / factos

e.g. Luc lives in Canada.
Verdades universais/cientficas
e.g. Water boils at 100 Celsius.
Usamos tambm o Simple Present para falar sobre horrios [de comboios,
peas de teatro, cinemas, aulas, etc] ou ainda eventos cujos horrios j
esto mais do que combinados e estabelecidos.
e.g. My plane takes off tomorrow at 4 pm.
The film begins at 9 tonight.
Expresses/Advrbios com os quais, regra geral, utilizamos o Present Simple:
Every day/week/month; usually; often; seldom; never; always; occasionally;
sometimes; generally; normally

Uso
usado para descrever aes que esto a acontecer agora, isto , neste
momento.
e.g. Look! It is raining.
Para descrever algo que est a acontecer temporariamente.
e.g. Luc and Erica are staying at their grandparents house this month.

Tambm pode ser usado para falar de projetos pessoais que iro acontecer num
futuro prximo.
e.g. A: When are you leaving for Seoul, South Korea?
B: Im leaving tonight.

Past Simple
Forma
Afirmativa
Em 1 lugar temos que distinguir entre dois tipos de verbos: verbos regulares e
verbos irregulares.
Os verbos regulares formam, regra geral, o past simple acrescentando o sufixo -ed ao
infinitivo.
Ex:
He played football last Sunday.
He cooked lunch last week.
Contudo, nem sempre assim to simples.
Quando um verbo regular termina em consoante + y, o y passa a i e
acrescentamos o sufixo ed.
Ex: He dried the dishes after dinner. (verb dry)
Quando um verbo regular acaba em consoante + vogal + consoante, a
consoante final dobra antes de acrescentarmos ed. (Esta a regra geral
porque depende do n de silabas e da acentuao)
Excees: verbos terminados em w, y or x.
Ex: He jogged yesterday morning.
Relativamente aos verbos irregulares no h outra soluo seno memorizar a lista.
Negativa
A regra da negativa igual para verbos regulares e irregulares.

Uso
O uso mais frequente do past continuous descrever uma ao que estava
acontecer num determinado momento no passado quando outra ocorreu.
e.g. I was having dinner out when I got the good news of my promotion.
aco que estava a acontecer

O past continuous utilize-se tambm para descrever duas (ou mais) aes
que se encontravam a decorrer em simultneo num determinado momento
no passado.
e.g. While my mom was preparing breakfast, I was making the beds.
