Slide 4 - Universal Video Collaboration

Slide notes

Lets start our review of the Polycom RealPresence Platform solution set with the RealPresence
Collaboration Server, a central element of many Polycom RealPresence solutions, and the product which
comprises the Universal Video Collaboration family.
The RealPresence Collaboration Server is a conference platform that connects large groups of people. It is
for organizations who want to share the next great idea face-to-face, from anywhere, anytime through
video collaboration. The RealPresence Collaboration Server is a solution for multipoint video, voice and
content collaboration that connects the most people at the highest quality and lowest cost.

Slide 5 - Universal Video Collaboration

Slide notes

So how about the customer value provided by the RealPresence Collaboration Server family?
The RealPresence Collaboration Server allocates resources for the most efficient use of network
bandwidth. It intelligently provides the best quality experience for each user. H.264 High Profile means
that the RealPresence Collaboration Server provides up to 50 percent bandwidth savings, resulting in
lower costs and better performance over existing infrastructure.
The RealPresence Collaboration Server has Dynamic Resource Allocation to enable the most efficient use
of available resources. A resource is a small portion of processing power - just enough to connect one
endpoint at CIF resolution. The RealPresence Collaboration Server uses more resources when needed to
support higher resolutions. Standard Definition calls require 1.5 resources. High Definition calls at 720p,
30 frames per second require 3 resources, and 1080p at 30 frames per second requires 6 resources.
As the RealPresence Collaboration Server only utilizes the resources actually required to support the
resolution of each endpoint, this is far more efficient than a bridge which just allows a number of HD
connections and no matter what the resolution, one whole connection is used. All RealPresence
Collaboration Servers have Dynamic Resource Allocation, and vary based on their ability to scale and their
capacity.
As organizations transition from legacy videoconferencing and infrastructure solutions to HD solutions and
upgraded infrastructure, The RealPresence Collaboration Server is the solution that allows old and new
equipment to operate together. The RealPresence Collaboration Server provides maximum reach and
connectivity. The hardware will support up to 1000 customizable meeting rooms for users from any
environment. Multiple types of endpoints are seamlessly integrated into a single call.

Slide 6 - Video Resource Management

Slide notes

Video Resource Management consists of two solutions, RealPresence Resource Manager and Converged
Management Application (CMA).
For organizations and service providers who are tasked to efficiently and easily manage their video
network, Video Resource Management is the solution family to centrally manage, monitor, provision and
schedule video conference resources and provide efficient and easy to use services such as gatekeeping,
dial plans and directory services.

Slide 7 - Video Resource Management

Slide notes

For networks that want to use mobile devices for video collaboration, or for networks with over 500 video
users, RealPresence Resource Manager is the right solution. Some key, unique benefits of the
RealPresence Resource Manager include:
- Scale to 10,000 devices to manage mobile, desktop and room telepresence systems
- Direct integrations into your key applications and systems
- Multi-tenant support for cloud based hosting
- Scheduling options via browser interface
RealPresence Resource Manager is dependent on an external video call control (gatekeeper/SIP registrar)
for scale which is achieved via tight integration with Polycom RealPresence Virtualization Manager (DMA
7000), providing highly reliable scheduled conferences, unified dial plan, and a variety of options for
leading UC environments.
CMA 4000 is the right solution for smaller video networks, up to 400 devices, and for organizations who do
not require multi-tenancy functions or APIs for integration. It has an internal gatekeeper and also includes
provisioning, management and monitoring capabilities.

Slide 8 - Virtualization Management

Slide notes

For UC enabled organizations that need to integrate and scale their communication systems, Virtualization
Management bridges disparate collaboration networks, services and devices while providing a high quality
user experience. Unlike competitive solutions, Virtualization Management provides the highest UC support,
geographical redundancy, resiliency, scale and maximum resource utilization for world class services.
RealPresence Virtualization Manager is software for managing and distributing calls across collaboration
networks with scalability, redundancy, and resiliency up to 25,000 concurrent sessions and 75,000
device registrations on up to 64 collaboration platforms. RealPresence Virtualization Manager is strongly
recommended for global enterprises and cloud deployments.

Slide 9 - Virtualization Management

Slide notes

So lets talk about the key benefits of RealPresence Virtualization Manager. It supports:
- Load balancing and MCU resource management of up to 64 bridges by distributing voice and video calls
across multiple bridges, allowing them to act as a single resource pool
- It also provides gatekeeping and call control functionality for RealPresence Resource Manager, scalable
up to 75,000 devices and 25,000 concurrent calls. When we talk about call control, we mean endpoint
registration and call routing services for both SIP and H.323. In addition, a gateway between SIP and
H.323 endpoints is provided, enabling enterprises with legacy H.323 devices to gradually transition to SIP
in an orderly, cost-effective manner. This unifies multiple UC environments and different video
conferencing technologies across the network in a single dial plan.
- When coupled together in a video network, the RealPresence Virtualization Manager and RealPresence
Resource Manager can be tightly integrated into third-party systems for scheduling, billing, provisioning,
and monitoring
- Highly resilient with redundant application servers and databases, with geographical distribution
eliminating single points of failure and providing full 100% automatic failover
- User accounts and personal meeting rooms are automatically provisioned centrally, with little or no
administrative effort

Slide 10 - Firewall Traversal & Security

Slide notes

Firewall Traversal and Security consists of two solutions, RealPresence Access Director and Video Border
Proxy (VBP).
For organizations that need Firewall Traversal and Security (for voice, video and content) across businessto-business and intra-company networks, Firewall Traversal and Security provides scalable, secure and
robust connectivity that reduces cost and complexity. Unlike other firewall traversal solutions, Firewall
Traversal and Security enables the freedom to choose customized deployment models (both H.323 and
SIP) for enterprise customers.

Slide 11 - Firewall Traversal & Security

Slide notes

The Video Border Proxy, or VBP, is the first product in this solution set. The Video Border Proxy is actually
a firewall in its own right, and therefore provides exceptional security for smaller customers using H.323.
There are two different VBP products, which can be used separately or together:
- The E-series VBP range is for calling from inside the network to an outside entity, or when an outside
entity needs to make a call into the network, such as a business to business (B2B) call. The E-series
actually has a small-scale gatekeeper built in as well for very small customers.
- The ST-series VBP range allows people working from home or other locations to connect into the
corporate network without connecting using a VPN. By registering the endpoint onto the network, it
becomes part of the video network and can see the directory.
RealPresence Access Director is the second product in this solution set. It is tightly integrated with
RealPresence Virtualization Manager and RealPresence Resource Manager, and requires both of these to
be present in the customers network, so this is very much a solution sale. This enables all the scalability
and function allowed by the other platform solutions to be shared into the SIP and H.323 firewall traversal
that RealPresence Access Director provides. This is especially beneficial in environments that have, or will
be, rolling out mobile deployments using smartphones and tablets the ability to provide security,
scalability and robust connectivity to video services for mid-to-large enterprises using both SIP and H.323,
supporting up to one thousand simultaneous calls.

Slide 12 - Video Content Management

Slide notes

Video Content Management is a business process game-changer. It speeds knowledge sharing and
overcomes challenges of distance and time by providing real-time and non real-time collaboration. Video
Content Management solutions allow organizations to capture content easily, manage content
automatically, deliver content seamlessly and access content naturally.

Slide 13 - Video Content Management

Slide notes

The first solutions in the Video Content Management family are devices which capture video. There are
two products in this category, the RSS 4000 and the RealPresence Capture Station.
The RSS may be used as a simple standalone device in smaller networks as it will record directly from any
H.323 or SIP endpoint including content, support live streaming for up to 200 users and may be used to
play back recordings from the browser interface or directly from an endpoint. As it is a network-based
device it is able to provide this capability to an entire network and any endpoint able to connect to it.
The RealPresence Capture Station is a room-based device which can be connected directly to any display
device for direct recording including content. It may be used in place of an endpoint, so is popular for use
in classrooms and other rooms which may not have video capability to record and share video content.
In addition, both these video capture devices integrate into the next solution; content management. The
RealPresence Media Manager imports and manages content, publishes the content and enables access
network-wide or even across the internet. It also integrates directly into Microsoft SharePoint and can
create content from Microsoft Lync and IBM Sametime. When using the RealPresence Media Manager in
conjunction with RealPresence Capture Station or RSS 4000, the RealPresence Media Manager can be
used to schedule and publish recordings using pre-prepared configurable templates to match corporate
brand guidelines.
