Climate Change
Climate Change is the climate in which we know today is changing do to Global
Warming. The current warming trend is important because it is very likely that it is a result
from humans and it is increasing rapidly. Humans are releasing more carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere which is trapping heat. Some Evidence of this is Warming oceans, global temp
rise, shrinking ice sheets, declining Arctic sea ice, Glacial Retreat, Ocean Acidification, and
decreased snow cover. Warming Oceans are when the temperature is being trapped under the
atmosphere it is warming the oceans temperature. This can also cause acidic oceans because
the carbon dioxide is being absorbed by the oceans and making them acidic. Over all the
Global temperature rising is creating some places to melt like shrinking ice sheets in
greenland, and glaciers are melting in the Arctic oceans. Other places that are warm to begin
with are experiencing heat waves, deserts, and droughts.
The cause of climate change is Sunlight passes through our atmosphere and warms the
earth and then the heat is radiated back into space. Most of the heat that is supposed to be
radiated back into space is getting trapped by the greenhouse gas molecules and then is
bounced off into other directions towards the earth and continues to warm the surface. The
greenhouse effect is warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from
earth toward space. Certain gasses in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. Some
examples of the gasses that are trapped in the atmosphere are Water Vaper and Carbon
Dioxide.

Water vapor: Water vapor increases as the Earth's atmosphere warms, but so does the
possibility of clouds and precipitation which feeds into the greenhouse effect.

Carbon Dioxide: is released through natural processes like respiration and volcano
eruptions but is also released through human activities like deforestation, land use
changes, and burning fossil fuels. Humans have increased atmospheric CO2
concentration by more than a third since the Industrial Revolution began.

Some of the effects from climate change are that temperatures will continue to rise
which will continue to melt the ice and cause heatwaves and droughts. There will be change
in precipitation patterns. Hurricanes will become stronger and more intense. Sea level will
rise 1-4 feet by 2100. Arctic ice will melt.
There are several different organizations in place for people to learn more about
climate change and what they can do to try to prevent climate change and how to prepare for
it. For example NOAA is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration provides data,
tools and info to help people understand and prepare for climate change. http://
www.noaa.gov/climate President Obama also has plan for climate change like to cut carbon
pollution from power plants, made the largest investment in clean energy in American history
including support for thousands of wind and solar projects. https://www.whitehouse.gov/therecord/climate

Reflection:
I have learned a lot about Global warming and Climate change while writing this
report. Ive always known that climate change meant the worlds temperature and climate
was being altered but I didnt exactly understand why or how this was happening. Now I
realize that it is happening because of the chemicals that are being produced both naturally
and from human activity. I understand now how the chemicals that we are producing into the
atmosphere are speeding up the climate change and warming up our earth. It can be easy to
forget about this and not care because its not affecting our current generation but we need
to be thinking about the future, we slowly destroying the world that we live on and we need
to be more considerate to our planet and to our future. I feel like learning this new
information has had an impact on me because before I was not informed on this topic so I
wasn't doing anything to help it. Now that I know there are things that I can do to try and
help I can be more conscience of it. For example car pooling is a great way to try and reduce
the amount of chemicals that are being put into our air.
