Solution
OpenScape Web Collaboration is a web conferencing solution that, owing to its
scalability, high security and reliability, enables comprehensive multi-media
collaboration. It is suitable for companies of all sizes and offers the option to stage
meetings with up to 100 participants.
Depending on how you use the solution, e. g. for webinars, trainings, project and
sales meetings, presentations as well as basic remote support of customers and
end-users, you can purchase appropriate licenses. Such licenses correspond to
the editions of the OpenScape Web Collaboration, which provide the respective
features.
Instant Meeting
In case of Instant Meeting there is at first one moderator and a maximum of
100 participants. The moderator decides which participant may present his or
her screen and who has control over the screen presented. Similarly, the
moderator can appoint other conference participants moderators and present
his/her own screen and even allow it to be controlled.
Secure Advisor
Secure Advisor is available in two configurations:
With the default client and up to three participants:

The number of moderators and participants is not specified, so all three
parties can also act as moderators. In this case, the participant is
automatically the presenter, and the moderator has automatic control
over the screen of the participant.
With the special Secure Advisor client:

With the special Secure Advisor client the user can set up a connection to
a previously defined PC or server via internet. During the session, the
user can access files, perform installations, provide support and maintain
this PC or server.
The OpenScape Web Collaboration solution consists in all editions of the

following components:
OpenScape Web Collaboration server

Software providing the web conference functionality. You can install and
configure it quickly with minimum IT involvement.
OpenScape Web Collaboration client

This is the client application that enables OpenScape Web Collaboration
users to deploy the features and functions provided by the OpenScape Web
Collaboration server by default. It consists of the following two modules:
Moderator module
This module contains the purchased license. It serves as session initiator
and must not be passed on to the other participants.

Client module
This module enables participating in an OpenScape Web Collaboration
session worldwide. It must be started on the computer of every invited
participant. Its size also allows its transmission by e-mail to ensure fast
and spontaneous communication.
Both modules can be provided for Microsoft Windows and Mac operating
systems alike.
OpenScape Web Collaboration Instant Meeting/Secure Advisor Outlook

Plugin
The OpenScape Web Collaboration Instant Meeting/Secure Advisor Outlook
Plugin is a Microsoft Outlook extension that provides a simple and convenient
tool for scheduling web conferences in OpenScape Web Collaboration.
Taking part in a web conference via mobile phone

After installing an Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod App or an Android App you can
participate in a web conference as well as schedule and start one.
The Hosted Version (cloud solution) of the OpenScape Web Collaboration as

another option for a customer deployment.
In addition to the OpenScape Web Collaboration client the OpenScape Web

Collaboration provides the browser-based OpenScape Web Collaboration
Web Client. It enables the user to participate in presentations and web conferences using a web browser. Viewing the moderator's screen is the only option
then. The user's own screen cannot be released. Remote access to another
computer is not possible.
Optionally: OpenScape Web Collaboration supports the antivirus program
AV4UC (Trend Micro).
OpenScape Web Collaboration recognizes the operating system's language

automatically. Secure transmission of all session data is ensured by a 256-bit
AES encryption.

Installation Requirements
3 Installation Requirements
In the following we list the hardware and software requirements that the system
to host OpenScape Web Collaboration must comply with.
Minmum requirements for setting up the OpenScape Web Collaboration
server for up to 100 simultaneous users.
Xeon processor with at least 2,5 GHz clock frequency
Minimum 4 GB RAM
Minimum 30 GB free harddisk memory
1 Gbit network board
Operating systems:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with the latest service pack (32-bit and
64-bit version)
with the latest service pack (32-bit and 64-bit version)

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with the latest service pack (64-bit
version), Standard and Enterprise version
Database:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (is included)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
At the time of the installation, no IIS (Internet Information Service) or other
web server is installed on the system.
Bandwidth requirement
Bandwidth consumption per OpenScape Web Collaboration session depends
on the connection type:
Connections with desktop sharing
Such connections require an average of 15 kbit/s per participant.
Connections with video streaming
Depending on the image quality settings in the GUI, up to 60 kbit/s are
required per user.
Voice connections
Connections with voice transmission require an average of 30 kbit/s per
user.
The OpenScape Web Collaboration server is found in a DMZ (Demilitarized
Zone). The server requires an IP address or alternatively a DNS host entry
pointing to the corresponding IP address.
NOTICE: When configuring the OpenScape Web Collaboration

server, prefer the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) to the IP
address. If you use for example the IP address and it is changed,
existing web conferences are not updated to the new IP address
and cannot be started anymore.

Ports
The following ports must be opened in a firewall to make shure that the
OpenScape Web Collaboration server can be reached via LAN and internet:
HTTP port: 80
HTTPS port: 443
TCP port: 5000
Requirements for setting up the OpenScape Web Collaboration Web Client
Operating systems:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with the latest service pack (32-bit and
64-bit version)
with the latest service pack (32-bit and 64-bit version)

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with the latest service pack (64-bit
version), Standard and Enterprise version
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed on the system.
Webserver (IIS) is installed on the system
Supported web browsers - all web browsers with JavaScript support, for
example:

This chapter describes the procedure you need to carry out to set up the server
module of the OpenScape Web Collaboration and illustrates the setup process on
a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 system.
You can download the software to be installed fast and conveniently via the
customer portal or it is provided to you on a CD.
You reach the OpenScape Web Collaboration customer portal via the following
link:

In there you can log on to the portal with your alias name or serial number and the
associated password.
The customer portal provides the following functions:
Displaying and editing private data related to the purchased license.
Performing program settings for configuring the moderator and participant

module.
Downloading and viewing various documents and documentation on the

product.
Downloading all modules of the product OpenScape Web Collaboration to

provide them for the installation:
The moderator module for Microsoft Windows or Mac operating systems
The participant module for Microsoft Windows or Mac operating systems
The setup file for the Secure Advisor client.
The setup directory for the OpenScape Web Collaboration Instant

Meeting/Secure Advisor Outlook Plugin.
The setup for the OpenScape Web Collaboration server.
The update files for the OpenScape Web Collaboration server.
The setup for the WebClient.
The setup file for the Secure Advisor client.

4.1 How to Download the Installation File for the Server Installation
Downloading the installation file for the server installation.

NOTICE: If you perform the setup under Microsoft Windows

Server 2008 R2, you need to activate the .NET Framework 3.5
SP1 feature via the Windows Server Manager after the installation.
Execute the following setup steps:

After you have clicked on the Activate button you are informed about the
activation status of your OpenScape Web Collaboration server.
8) Close the message about the activation status of your OpenScape Web

In this dialog you need to import the purchased license after successfully

Activate this option if you do not have an internet access but received the
file with the release code by e-mail. Then click on the search icon ... for

All you need to do is logging on to the OpenScape Web Collaboration customer
portal with the basic license and downloading the corresponding moderator and
client modules.
Before you download the moderator and client modules you may customize them
via the configuration settings in the portal.
4.8 How to Perform an Update Installation for the OpenScape Web

Collaboration Server
Updating the OpenScape Web Collaboration server to a new version.
Execute the following steps to update the OpenScape Web Collaboration server
to a new version:

This chapter describes the preparatory steps you need to take before setting up
the OpenScape Web Collaboration Web Client on a Microsoft Windows Server
2008 R2. Furthermore, it illustrates the actual setup process in an integrated and
in a distributed deployment scenario as well as the configuration steps required
after the installation. The OpenScape Web Collaboration Web Client installation
is divided into the following single steps:
Installation of the required role services and features.
Installation steps for the selected deployment scenario.
Integrated deployment scenario

The OpenScape Web Collaboration server and the OpenScape Web
Collaboration Web Client are installed on the same computer. For this
installation scenario two installation requirements must be configured.
The second prerequisite is optional and only mandatory if you would like
to use only one IP address:
If the OpenScape Web Collaboration server and the OpenScape Web
Collaboration Web Client are installed on the same computer, the
variables listen1= and listen2= must be customized. This customization is necessary since the OpenScape Web Collaboration server and
the OpenScape Web Collaboration Web Client IIS will then use the same
http listener. The customization must take place, regardless whether one
or two IP addresses are to be used.
Option: If the OpenScape Web Collaboration server and the OpenScape
Web Collaboration Web Client are addressed via the same IP address,
the two must be differentiated via different port assignments.
Distributed deployment scenario

The OpenScape Web Collaboration server and the OpenScape Web
Collaboration Web Client are installed on two separate computers.
You can download the software in the customer portal anytime via your license or
it is supplied to you on a CD in the scope of your order.
5.1 How to Install the required Role Services and Features

Execute the following steps to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and Webserver
(IIS) independently from the selected deployment scenario on a Microsoft
Windows Server 2008 R2 system.
Step by Step
1) Start the Windows Server Manager.

NOTICE: To keep the installation simple we recommend to use

the setup version with two IP addresses.
Port 80 is pre-set for the IIS (Internet Information Services) by default. If only one
IP address is used, this would conflict using the OpenScape Web Collaboration
Web Client, which deploys HTTP port 80 also. Consequently, you need to change
the port number setting respectively host name in the IIS bindings configuration.

The SmartLoader
Without SmartLoader, every Ad-hoc web conference requires downloading the

client that matches the operating system. If a participant has been invited for a
web conference via an invitation e-mail, the participant's operating system is
automatically recognized, but it will be downloaded each time a new web
conference session is staged.
The SmartLoader remedies the above disadvantages. Only the following URL is
now required for Ad-hoc web conferences:
join. fastviewer.com
It is used for starting the session. After you have entered the session ID for joining
the web conference, the following process starts automatically.
First the version number of the required module stored in the download directory
is checked:
If both versions are identical, the module starts automatically with the entered
session ID. As a result, the module starts extremely fast to save time and
bandwidth considerably.
If both versions are not identical, the file of the old module will first be
overwritten with the current module's file. Subsequently, the module starts
automatically with the entered session ID. After the web conference the
module is available for the faster start-up version (see above description).
The same procedure applies for web conferences started via a link in an invitation
e-mail.
Once a web conference module has been loaded via this mechanism, the
ensuing web conference sessions are loaded within seconds as the module file
need not be downloaded anew. You need not wait for an update phase to pass
until the initial start of a newly appearing module version.
SmartLoader in stand-alone operation
To use the SmartLoader in stand-alone operation the web conference participant
needs a browser that supports JavaScript.
NOTICE: You can download the JavaScript-PlugIn for all

common web browsers from the Java website (www.java.com).
If a participant does not have Java, he/she will be enabled to join the session
conventionally. The participant module required for the participant's system is
then offered for downloading.

When setting up the OpenScape Web Collaboration, the system-internal Web
Client interface is installed without https support by default.
Using a secure https connection can be retrospectively enabled via installing SSL
certificates on the IIS web server that hosts the client interface as well as on the
OpenScape Web Collaboration server.
When the SSL certificate installations are complete, the OpenScape Web Collaboration Web Client can use a secure https connection to the OpenScape Web

Add the certificates to the store of the Trusted Root Certification Authorities

6 Installing OpenScape Web Collaboration Secure Advisor

OpenScape Web Collaboration Secure Advisor is ideal for service personnel, for
continuously maintaining single PCs or servers as well as for fast and efficient
help and support anytime world-wide. You need a license for using this application.
This edition of the OpenScape Web Collaboration consists of two modules:
Moderator module
The moderator module FastMaster.exe contains your license. It is
independent from workstations, thus usable on any number of PCs. It must
not be passed on to further clients. Alternatively, you can store the module on
a data carrier (e. g. USB stick) for working with it from any location world-wide.
The customer portal allows you to download your moderator module anytime.
Secure Advisor client module

You can download this module via the Download remoted setup button in
the customer portal anytime. The fvwresetup.exe file must be executed on
every computer to be accessed via a remoted session. After you have
installed the Secure Advisor module on the desired computer, the Secure
Advisor client is integrated in the management console of the moderator
module.
NOTICE: Install the Secure Advisor client module on all PCs to

be controlled remotely. In doing so please note that one Secure
Advisor license is required per installation. This license is
allocated until you uninstall the module. Shutting down the
module does not automatically release the license.
6.1 Configuring OpenScape Web Collaboration Secure Advisor

This section contains information that are to be noted when configuring the client
module after the installation.

In the HTTP combo box you can select the HTTP version to be used.
In the Default LAN Settings area you can enter the server with the
respective Port number and determine to Bypass proxy on local
network.
You can specify a path for automatically configuring the settings under

the web conference server is logged in a log file.
HTTP Configuration
Via this option you reach the HTTP Configuration dialog.
Show Logfiles
This option allows viewing the created log files.
Exit
Shuts the Secure Advisor client module down. The Windows task bar does
not shows any icons anymore. Remote access to the relevant computer is
now impossible.

This section is a step-by-step guide to setting up the client module of OpenScape
Web Collaboration Secure Advisor Edition.
Prerequisites

6.3 FastProxy Concept and Configuration

Using the OpenScape Web Collaboration Secure Advisor enables defining and
deploying one or several FastProxys. One FastProxy acts as proxy in a network
and bundles the status information of up to 500 clients. This status information is
then sent via only one line to the OpenScape Web Collaboration server. This way,
you can manage up to 25 000 000 clients per OpenScape Web Collaboration
server.
Two FastProxy types are possible:

FastProxy server
Represents the interface to the OpenScape Web Collaboration server. The
online status that each Secure Advisor client sends is transmitted to the
FastProxy server, which then forwards the status to the OpenScape Web
FastProxy client
It does not report its online status independently to the OpenScape Web
Collaboration server anymore but to the FastProxy server, which exists in the
same network. If the FastProxy server is unavailable, a direct connection to
the OpenScape Web Collaboration server is set up.
You can configure each Secure Advisor client as FastProxy server or as

FastProxy client via the customer portal. We recommend to store the different
FastProxy server or FastProxy client settings in different profiles. This enables
you to download the Secure Advisor setup with the corresponding profile easily
and anytime according to usage. For example, define the following two profiles
under Settings V 3.x > Functions > "Remote" tab:
FastProxy server
The options Use FastProxy server and Use FastProxy Client have been
selected.
FastProxy client
Only the option Use FastProxy Client has been selected.
NOTICE: To create a new profile, click on the Profile Manager

and then on the New Profile button.
As you can see in the below figure, you can specifically use a Secure Advisor
client as FastProxy server. All other Secure Advisor clients are installed with the
setup of the FastProxy client profile and use the FastProxy server as long as it is
available.

When setting up the FastProxy server profile in larger networks we recommend

to also install several Secure Advisor clients that organize their FastProxy
functionality independently. If, for example, a computer that serves the FastProxy

Administrative tools for the OpenScape Web Collaboration server
This section describes the administrative tools used for connecting SSL certificates as well as for analyzing and maintaining. They are not required for normal
use of the OpenScape Web Collaboration server. You reach such tools via Start
> All Programs > Webconference Server V3.x.
The following tools are available:
Certificate Installer
Tool for connecting SSL certificates.
Server Admin
Tool for analyzing the server status.
Log Viewer
Tool for representing logs.
7.1 Certificate Installer

Tool for connecting SSL certificates.
If you wish to encrypt the communication during a web conference session you
need to have a valid SSL certificate for the IIS. The Certificate Installer serves for
connecting SSL certificates to the corresponding OpenScape Web Collaboration
server addresses.
You reach such tools via Start > All Programs > Webconference Server V3.x >
Certificate Installer.
The GUI of this tool offers the following operating elements and functions:
IP Address
Enter here the IP address the SSL certificate shall be bound to. Alternatively,
you can select the IP address manually via the opposite combo box.
Clear all
A click on this button deletes your entries.

Server Admin
Select cert
After clicking this button you can select the SSL certificate to be bound to the
IP address mentioned under IP Address. The certificate name appears to the
right of Certificate. In addition, the finger print of your SSL certificate (the socalled hash value) appears to the right of Fingerprint.
Remove cert
Via this button you can separate the SSL certificate from the IP address
defined above.
Install cert
After you have made all required entries, a click on this button binds the
selected SSL certificate to the specified IP address.
7.2 Server Admin

Tool for analyzing the server status.
This is a browser-based tool that enables displaying the server or database
status, the number of currently started sessions and the connected client
modules. You can also use it for displaying the current server configuration
(settings.ini).
You reach this tool via Start > All Programs > Webconference Server V3.x >
Server Admin.
NOTICE: You can access this tool also directly via a web browser
. Enter http://localhost/admin in the input line for this
purpose.

Clicking one of the following buttons represented in the left-hand section of the
page you can have the corresponding information displayed:
SYSTEM STATUS
This page is displayed by default when the Server Admin starts. It contains
general information about the server (e. g. server name, session ID range),
network information (e. g. type (direct, via HTTP or HTTPS) and number of
connections), server status: active/inactive.
CURRENT SESSIONS
A click on this button displays all current sessions.
CONNECTED CLIENTS
After clicking this button you receive an overview of all currently connected
clients.
DATABASE STATUS
The single entries in the Table column can be exported or displayed in the
XML format. Such information is exclusively important for support purposes.
VIEW CONFIGURATION
Enables a fast overview of the server settings contained in the
settings.ini configuration file.
7.3 Log Viewer

Tool for representing logs.
Log Viewer
With the Log Viewer tool you can gain an overview of all staged sessions. It
provides useful information about sessions in tabular and graphical format
anytime. In addition, this tool enables you to sort connection or session details by
various criteria and execute an export in the CSV format.

this has not been done yet.
NOTICE: To enable the OpenScape Web Collaboration Instant
Meeting/Secure Advisor Outlook Plugin communicating with the
OpenScape Web Collaboration server, an SSL certificate for
using HTTPS is required on the server. Install the SSL certificate
on the server and bind it to the OpenScape Web Collaboration
server with the supplied "Certificate Installer". The SSL certificate
must be bound to the server via port 5100.
4) Restart the "Webconferenceserver" service on the OpenScape Web Collaboration server.
5) Release the TCP port 5100 at the OpenScape Web Collaboration server
inbound.
NOTICE: Ensure that port 5100 is also released outbound on all
