Remember the Alamo
The movie Remember the Alamo is an informative work of history that serves to
explain the struggle between Mexico and Texas. On one hand, Mexico claims the land is in their
country and wages war against Texas. Similarly, Texans want to declare their independence from
Mexico and engage in a revolt against Mexican authorities. Notably, Texas is struggling with an
identity crisis since it does not decide whether to join the federal government in America or form
its own state. To this end, producers of the movie demonstrate the politics of the time between
Texas and the Federal government, which was characterized by the unwillingness of the Federal
authorities to offer support to Texas.
To this end, the movie captures the struggle that ensued in an informative manner by
telling the story of both protagonists. In my own opinion, the producers of this movie conducted
exhaustive research on the history of the Alamo, which is ably demonstrated in the movie.
Equally important, the movie gives a chronological account of events, which is critical for the
movie to qualify as a work of history. To this end, the documentary details the origin of the
conflict, which was started by Americans who had been land by the Mexicans after they attained
independence from Spain. Again, the documentary talks about the role of religion especially
Christians who sought to convert locals. Most importantly, the movie gives the history of Texas
from the time it was a Spanish colony.
In addition, the documentary details the various efforts that were utilized to try to solve
the problem through diplomacy, for example, the treaty between America and Spain that sought
to exchange different regions in order to avoid war. Furthermore, the writers of the movie
captured the main characters that held sway in the two groups, for instance, General Santa Anna
who was the commander of the Mexicans. On the other hand, there is Colonel Crocket for the

Texans. Notably, the producers explain the role they played in shaping the conflict. However, I
think the movie is biased to some extent against the Mexicans since it portrays them as evil
whereas they were only defending their land. In addition, the movie is effective in capturing the
lives of ordinary people and how they were destabilized, and torn between the two opposing
camps. Similarly, the producers of the movie did a good job by showing how the people used to
live back then. Importantly, the piece of art involves the indigenous Indians who coincidentally
were also fighting wars against the Ffederal governments and how they were intertwined with the
war.
Furthermore, the movie explains the internal factors that led to the failure of the
Mexicans to hold on to Texas. For instance, the succession politics give Texans room to
maneuver against the Mexicans due to lack of leadership. However, the movie also discusses the
variables that led to the defeat of the Texans in the Alamo, for instance, lack of reinforcements
from the federal government. Additionally, the documentary covers the events that shaped the
history of Texas. For example, the massacre at the fort of Alamo that served to reinforce the
resolve of the Texans. Clearly, this is a good strategy on the part of the producers since this helps
the audience to relate with the movie. Lastly, the documentary is an informative piece of history
that discusses the truth and dispels myths associated with the rebellion.
