CHAPTER III

METHOD OF THE RESEARCH

For further research, the researcher will use methodology which explained
in this chapter to describe the research design, object of the research, technique of
collecting data and analyzing data included in this chapter.

A.

Research Design
There are two kinds of research methodology. They are quantitative

research and qualitative research. In this research, the researcher will use
qualitative research. Qualitative research is a kind of research that only needs
words to explain or to describe the contain of the research. In other words,
qualitative research does not need any numbers or statistical. In qualitative
reseracher, the resercher should develop the research by describing it using some
words.
Dei (2005: 11) explains that whereas quantitative data deals with numbers,
qualitative data deals with meanings. Meanings are mediated mainly through
language and action. It means we do not need any kind of number or statistical in
developing the research. It other words, qualitative research prefers to words than
numbers. The researcher only needs to develop the paragraph by using some
words without making any statistical. In this research, the researcher will describe
and explain the research by using some words related to the research.

Source of Data

1.

Primary data
Umar (2003: 56) states that primary data is the data which is taken directly

in the field by the researcher as the object of the research. The researcher will take
keepsmileindooo as the primary data of the research.

2.

Secondary data
Sugiyono (2005: 62) states that secondary data is the data that is not given

directly to the researcher, for examples the researcher should meet a person or
look for the data by document. In this research, the researcher takes e-books,
journal, thesis as the secondary data for this research.

C.

Technique of Collecting Data

The researher will collect the data by doing some steps. First, the researcher

will open keepsmileindooo. Second, the researcher will see and first and choose
the pictures. The third, the researcher will take the ten best pictures which are
taken before. Finally, the researcher will analyze the pictures which are already
taken before.

D.

Technique of Analyzing Data

In analyzing data, the researcher will use the descriptive research to

describe the problem by identifying and gathering data and sources related to the
problem. The researcher will describe the meaning of the words in selected

pictures which are found in keepsmileindooo. In describing the data, the

researcher will give more explanation by using some words. Kothari (1990: 2)
states that descriptive research included surveys and fact-findings enquiries of
different kinds. It means the researcher does not only have to describe the problem
but also survey it first.
