2. At the recent OHSAS18001 audit we received a non-conformance regarding a

number of unlabeled containers of various liquids seen around Service Department.
Why was this raised as a concern?

i. The auditor was thirsty and wanted to take a drink from one of the containers
ii. There was no part number on the containers so it would be difficult to count it
as stock
iii. The containers have no branding on them
iv. USECHH regulations state that containers should be labelled to prevent misuse
and ensure safe storage and disposal
v. The auditor couldn't let us get away without raising a non-conformance

The Department Managers in charge of functions utilizing any equipment and

material (i.e. chemical) are responsible for ensuring that the requirements of
this procedure are adhered to.

Ensuring that adequate training is provided to area personnel on the contents

of this procedure and on safe methods of any equipment and material (i.e.
chemical).

Ensuring equipment and material (i.e. chemical) operation suitably assessed

and planned.

Ensuring any defective equipment is quarantined and that where necessary

repairs and/or defects are rectified in a timely manner.

Ensuring equipment and material (i.e. chemical) is suitable for the task.
