L'auberge du Voyageur
In 1979, four Britons who were had summer vacation in France, were
traveling from Paris to Marseille, southern France, with its own drive. They are two
pairs of youngsters who were enjoying their summer vacation. The time was 22:00
and the sun was setting and getting dark. Understandably during the summer in
France, the sunset time is around 9:00 p.m. to 22:00! The four of them residing in
rural France on the outskirts of Lyon, have agreed to seek a place of lodging and
decided to continue the journey the next morning.
In the rural atmosphere is very quiet, only one or two cars just passed every
10-15 minutes. After a while they finally saw an inn some distance from the highway
that connected with a small street. The inn seemed a bit dark with only dim light out
of every window, it seems that the inn was a blackout. But since that time they were
tired, they decided also to stay at the inn.
After they arrived at the inn, they saw that look a lot of people who are in the
inn, but strangely they do not see even one car parked at the inn. But they do not
give a damn, and immediately rushed to the receptionist and ask if there are two
empty rooms there. The receptionist with a friendly smile said there. After finishing
their check-in at between the bellhop immediately go into their rooms on the 3rd
floor, top floor. After they enter their rooms, they began to meet gaffe, in which no
electric lights at all, as well as other electronic equipment like television sets,
telephones, even the quartz wall clocks did not exist! There are only a bed and
furniture, old furniture models. Although it all looks very well maintained and
everything looks clean and orderly.
Soon after they all bathe, cleanse the body, they all agreed to have dinner on
the ground floor. Arriving on the ground floor they are all in between by a very
friendly waiter to the dining room is quite large with many tables. But strangely, it
seems that only four of them who were eating, others just passing by it. Then when
they eat, they also talked about the strangeness of this inn that seems more suited
to be a museum instead of lodging as full of antiques are manicured and there is no
single modern stuff! When finished eating, they casually asked the receptionist,
whether the residence is no electricity and no modern objects as well as why there
is no car parking at this inn? The receptionist smiled kindly and said 'we are like
this, we strive to bring guests into the atmosphere of the past, this is our unique

way to attract visitors or our clients', he said. Although four of them are still curious,
but they decided not to ask anymore, especially when they are tired because it was
already past midnight. Especially early in the morning they had to move on to it
they decided to go straight to bed.
The next morning they went on a trip to Marseille. When about to check-out
and complete the payment they are very surprised because they only cost 30
francs. "30 francs? For us all? Includes dinner and breakfast?? "The receptionist
nodded and smiled kindly. "Why so cheap!, We'll be here again next year!" said one
of the four. Having had time to take pictures in front of the inn, they all rushed off to
Marseille, while looking at the inn signboard, it is very simple: "L'auberge du
Voyageur"! On the way they talk that next year they will stay at the inn again,
because it is cheap and the service is excellent.
Arriving in England, they wash their photographs, strangely all the photos are
in the inn burned all, are the photographs printed in other places with good! But
they do not give a damn, yet they plan to return again to the inn next summer.
One year has passed, now they are back again to France and would like to
once again stay at 'L'auberge du Voyageur'. But strangely they are having trouble
finding the back guesthouse. Once they were back and forth many times until finally
they were convinced that they are in place right now, they took the initiative to ask
the people who live near the highway on the existence of 'L'auberge du Voyageur'.
But no one who knows that place, really weird! But eventually they met an old man,
they agreed to ask the old man.
"Sir, you know the whereabouts of L'auberge du Voyageur". "Exactly I do not
know, but I know that L'auberge du Voyageur! What is it? " said the old man.
"We all want to stay longer there!" said one of the four.
"Stay there again?" said the old man in astonishment.
"Yeah, why sir?" Replied one of them again.
"But son, it's impossible! L'auberge du Voyageur was burned to the ground
nearly 200 years ago, and said none have survived the fire, "said the old man.
