1. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this document is the procedure for Road markings.

2. SCOPE:
This document applies for marking on road.

3. REFERENCE:
Project Specification
Qatar Construction Specification
Approved RFC Drawings

4. RESPONSIBILITY:
Site Engineer (Responsible for execute the specified activity)
QA/QC Engineer (Responsible for ensure the quality of materials and works)
Site foreman. (Execute the specified activity)

5. MATERIALS: Thermoplastic paint


6. PROCEDURE:

The road surface shall be dry, and free of loose, detritus mud or other extraneous
matter.

The area of road marking is identified and premarking is done as per approved RFC
drawings prior to application of thermoplastic paint.

Self Contained Multipurpose screed machine applicator shall be used for the
application of Thermoplastic paint.

For special lettering, arrows or symbols the material shall be applied manually.

Manual application shall be done by putting a required size of dye on the part where
the marking will be placed and pouring an amount of material by a bucket the dye will
be pulled according to a pre-marking provided with a guide like steel bar or steel plate

to get the desired line or shape, glass beads will be also applied manually during the
application.

The finished lines shall be free from raggedness and be true in place with the road surface.
The upper surface shall be level uniform and free from streaks, blisters,lumps and other
defects.
Traffic restrictions shall remain in force prior to, throughout and following application unit
markings area cured, dry and resistant to traffic.

6. HSE

A risk assessment shall be prepared to address the HSE issues of road marking
works. GCC will operate a strict HSE system at site. GCC recognizes the
importance of HSE requirements for working at site.
