TRANSPORTING

1. Reference the Field Assembly Manual" for disas-sembly. This will aid planning the rigid dump
truck dis-assembly for transport.
2. Due to the overall size and weight, the rigid dump truck is disassembled for transport between
mine sites. Consult governmental transportation regulations and applicable laws when planning
rigid dump truck trans-port. When transporting a rigid dump truck consider the following while
planning the move.
Select a skilled work force of technicians, welders and operators familiar with the equipment...
Gather special tools required for rigid dump truck disassembly
Select packaging materials to protect components for duration of transport and storage.
Load carrying capacity of the transporting trailers.
Local weight capacity of bridges and roadways.
Maximum cargo size limits for ship, train and bridge clearances.
Regulatory documents and permits to transport rigid dump truck to final destination.
3. Use adequate rated chains, blocks, cables, etc. to se-cure parts to transport vehicle floor.
4. Measure and confirm each packaged load for overall height, width and weight of the rigid dump
truck com-ponents on the trailer. Do not exceed capacity ratings of transport.
5. Transporting in foggy, dusty, or stormy weather condi-tions requires additional care and may cause
delays.
6. Rigid dump trucks can be transported internationally. Insurance and proper documentation of rigid
dump truck ownership are responsibility of the owner. Con-sult your local Hitachi selling
distributor for information and service support with moving a mining rigid dump truck.
NOTE: It is important that you know the overall height, width, and weight of the rigid dump truck when
trav-eling between mines over existing roads (roading). Check with local officials for special
permits, traffic control requirements, or regulations that may apply.
Specialized trailers should only be used for the transportation of heavy mining equipment.
When lifting or supporting the rigid dump truck, select hoist equipment with a rated capacity greater than
the combined weight of the component part plus associated cable, chain, or spreader beam used to
attach the load to crane hook.
Refer to Parking rigid dump truck, Short Term Storage for recommended mainte-nance procedures
necessary prior to trans-porting the rigid dump truck.
NOTE: Disconnect the hoist control lever electrical connection when the dump body is not
attached to the hoist cylinders. This will prevent inadvertent raising of the body or hoist
cylinders when the rigid dump truck is operated without a dump body or when the hoist
cylinders are not at-tached to the dump body.

CAUTION: Avoid loading crane or hoist beyond the specifications of the load ca-pacity rating
chart. Hoisted load weight always includes the hoisted item and the rigging used to attach it
to crane. The crane hook block and load line may also be con-sidered part of the load.
Attachments to the crane boom such as a jib or auxiliary hoist cable affect crane stability
and may be considered part of the hoisted load. Consult the crane manufacturers operating
manual for specific detail on crane configu-ration and load capacity before use.
