1. T introduces Ss into the reading topic: Dinosaurs.


T also elicits information about Ss prior knowledge
(How were they? How many dinosaurs do you
know? Do you like them? Which one is your
favourite?). T asks Ss to select a picture about
their favourite dinosaur. If possible, Ss have to
include names and a characteristic.
2. Ss are supposed to post their answers on a virtual
forum called What do you know about
dinosaurs?. For that reason, Ss go over the
webpage and post their answers (Ss have to
create a user and have a password):

3. T presents a video about dinosaurs to the group.

4. Next to the video, T also introduces a reading
technique that would help the class to focus
attention on details (Names and characteristics):
Scanning. Those tips are presented in the
webpage (Activity one!). For that reason, a series
of steps are explained and then, applied:
A. Images analysis: When scanning, It is
important to analyse all the text features. One
of the most relevant are the images because
they give the reading an anticipated overview
of the text.
B. Looking for keywords: Keywords are important
and relevant words that give the readers clues
and information about the reading features.
Some of them are names, dates, specific
characteristics of the characters, etc.
C. Using keywords to answer questions: In this
step, keywords would help the reader to
answer true or false questions and to match
features with characters.
