LITURGICAL MINISTRY
The summer schedules are difficult in that
that ministry people will be away at various
times. It’s helpful to us to have you call replacements or to trade with one another.
Last minute replacements as the Liturgy begins are becoming difficult for the
celebrant and/or deacon.

From the day after Pentecostuntil the day before Advent begins
ORDINARY TIME
There are about 32 weeks outside the five church seasons. These weeks are called
“ORDINARY TIME,” from the word “ordinal,” meaning “counted.” Each week is given
a number to help us divide the scriptures into readings and to place these in an orderly
book called the lectionary. We do the same thing with the church’s prayers at Mass,
ordered day by day in a book called the sacramentary.
Ordinary Time is a name for the weeks that come between the church seasons. The period
of Ordinary Time that lasts from Eastertime until Advent spans over half the year. In the
Northern Hemisphere, most of summer and autumn fall during these weeks. This is
harvest time. In the gospels, Jesus often talked about the harvest as a symbol of what
heaven might be like. Slowly but surely, as God’s creatures grow ripe and then die,
they will be harvested into heaven.

the church. The newsletter outlines the
highlights of the year to date. Members are
enouraged to pick up a newsletter and "be in
the know".
>RUMMAGE SALE: A sincere THANKS to
all who donated, supported or attended our
Rummage Sale last Saturday. An extra
expression of GRATITUDE to those who
worked at or helped in any way to make the
event such a success. The total was
$2,158.80, which will be donated to charity.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, Council 1916, Renfrew,
General Meeting on Monday, June 14th in the
Knights of Columbus Hall. As there is no
General Meeting in July or August, the Grand
Knight’s Social will follow the meeting with
pizza and wings and a euchre tournament. All
members are invited to attend for an evening of
fellowship and fraternalism.
THE FOOD BANK NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Schools and other organizations don’t do food drives
in the summer, but people still need to eat. With the
recession and higher costs for hydro and other bills,
more people than ever have had to use the Food Bank
this year. Help us avoid empty shelves this summer.
