WELCOME AND COLLECTION OF PRAYERS and

On this day we celebrate the heart of our faith: the gospel of Christthe
good newsthat makes us free! We pray that the Holy Spirit would
continue to unite the church today in its proclamation and witness to the
world. In the waters of baptism we are made one body; we pray for the day
that all Christians will also be one at the Lords table.
CHILDREN are always welcome to our Worship Service. Rainbow bags
and a cry room are available. A staffed nursery is also available if needed.
An usher will gladly provide you with assistance.
As a worship courtesy, we ask that you please turn off or set to vibrate

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of

PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it. I am
weak in the faith; strengthen me. I am cold in love; warm me and make me
fervent, that my love may go out to my neighbor. I do not have a strong and
firm faith; at times I doubt and am unable to trust you altogether. O Lord,
help me. Strengthen my faith and trust in you. In you I have sealed the
treasure of all I have. I am poor; you are rich and came to be merciful to the
poor. I am a sinner; you are upright. With me, there is an abundance of sin;
in you is the fullness of righteousness. Therefore I will remain with you, of

The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 32It will not
be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by
the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypta covenant that they
broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. 33But this is the covenant
that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I
will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be
their God, and they shall be my people. 34No longer shall they teach one
another, or say to each other, Know the LORD, for they shall all know me,

SECOND READING

Romans 3:19-28

19

Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who
are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced, and the whole
world may be held accountable to God. 20For no human being will be
justified in his sight by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law
comes the knowledge of sin.
21

But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed,
and is attested by the law and the prophets, 22the righteousness of God
through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no
distinction, 23since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; 24they
are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus, 25whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by his
blood, effective through faith. He did this to show his righteousness,
because in his divine forbearance he had passed over the sins previously
committed; 26it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous
and that he justifies the one who has faith in Jesus.
27Then what becomes of boasting? It is excluded. By what law? By that
of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28For we hold that a person is
justified by faith apart from works prescribed by the law.

Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, If you continue
in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32and you will know the truth, and
the truth will make you free. 33They answered him, We are descendants
of Abraham and have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean by
saying, You will be made free?
34Jesus answered them, Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits
sin is a slave to sin.35The slave does not have a permanent place in the
household; the son has a place there forever. 36So if the Son makes you free,
you will be free indeed.

APOSTLES CREED
As they recite the creed, worshippers are invited to bow beginning with the
words born of the Virgin Mary, until the words he descended to the

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On
the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the
right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the
dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of

Brothers and sisters, James writes: Is any one of you sick? Let him call the
elders of the church to prayer over him and anoint him with oil in the name
of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up.

Forgiven, healed and reconciled to God through Christ, let us reconcile

RITE OF ANOINTING FOR HEALING
The order for healing is an expression in worship of the churchs ministry
of healing. Each person may come to receive a word of blessing and prayer
for healing and forgiveness, along with laying on of hands and an
anointing. These signs, first given in baptism, tell us again that we are
sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked forever with the cross of Christ, who
is health and salvation for the world.
In its ministry of healing, the church does not replace the gifts of God that
come through the scientific community nor does it promise a cure. Rather
the church offers and celebrates gifts such as these: Gods presence with
strength and comfort in time of suffering, Gods promise of wholeness and
peace and Gods love embodied in the community of faith.

By the end of the seventeenth century, many Lutheran churches celebrated
a festival commemorating Martin Luther's posting of the Ninety-five
Theses, a summary of abuses in the church of his time. At the heart of the
reform movement was the gospel, the good news that it is by grace through
faith that we are justified and set free.
All Saints Day
Tuesday, November 01, 2016
The custom of commemorating all of the saints of the church on a single
day goes back at least to the third century. All Saints Day celebrates the
baptized people of God, living and dead, who make up the body of Christ.
On this day or the following Sunday, many congregations will remember
the faithful who have died during the past year.
Martn de Porres, renewer of society, died 1639
Thursday, November 03, 2016
Martn was the son of a Spanish knight and a freed black slave from
Panama. As a lay brother in the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), he
engaged in many charitable works in Lima, Peru. He founded an
orphanage, a hospital, and a clinic for cats and dogs.

The Altar flowers are administered by the worship committee. The 2017
Altar Flower chart is posted on the bulletin board in the lower lobby and
there is attached to it a tear-off sheet for donors to complete and hand into
the office or place in the offering plate for proper publication in the
bulletin.
If you would like to purchase flowers for worship in memory of or in honor
of someone, please sign up. The cost is $35 per arrangement, and checks
should be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church. The contact person is Mary
