INTRODUCTION
A speaker delivering a speech before an audience is the first thing that probably
comes to mind for many in the class. Communication is not just the mere transfer of
messages from one person to another just like a balikbayan box being delivered to
ones doorstep. It involves a speaker imparting ideas, concepts, and data to a group of
listeners.

Communication is about two people talking such as with a sibling, a parent, a

teacher, or a friend face to face in real life or even via the internet. It is also a group of
people talking with one another to solve a problem, for example discussing with
classmates about how a report should be done. Even buying a snack from a vendor
outside the school is considered communication

Communication is stirring up ideas in the mind of another. Its the sharing of

ideas among a group of people. It is imparting concepts to audience. Monroe et al.
(1982) described it as sharing of experiences publicly for the common good.Pace et al.
(1979) observed that communication has to be mastered. However, before these, the
process of communication must first be understood.

Communication is what connects us as human beings. Society exists and grows

with every communication activity between and among persons within that society. We
are social beings who interact with one another all the time.

Nomination- presenting a particular topic clearly, truthfully, and saying only
what is relevant
Restriction- constraining the response/reaction within a set of categories

Turn taking- recognizing when and how to speak because it is ones turn
Topic control- keeping the interaction going by asking questions and eliciting
a response
Repair- overcoming communication breakdown to send more comprehensible
message
Termination- using verbal and nonverbal signals to end the interaction
These strategies are important in-order to maintain good connections and
deliver message correctly without having miscommunication or breakdown
communication
D. Self-evaluation
In a scale of 1-5 how would you rate the improvements in your
communication skill? cite specific improvements. How will these
improvements help you.
I would rate myself (4) because I can say that I truly improved a lot with my
communication skill. Before, Im that type of person who is shy, doesnt want to
interact with other people and especially stage frightened when it comes to
delivering speeches. But because of my perseverance, patience and dedication
to finish all of these, I tried to improve myself to become a good communicator. I
made our lessons in Oral communication as guidelines everytime Im doing my
speech in order to avoid communication breakdown, and that helped me so
much. It doesnt mean that I would stop to improve myself because Im a better
communicator now. I have this Growth Mindset that I still need to practice and
improve my communication skill.
