Connecting to the CATIA User Companion Server

CATIA (Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application) user companion introduces

new users to CATIA by providing a series of worked examples that help the user become familiar
with CATIA interface.
Prerequisites:

Windows 7 64-bit operating system and Internet Explorer.

Working version of CATIA V5R20.
Java Runtime Environment 32-bit Version 6 plus any update but NOT Version 7.

The installation section below only needs to be carried out the first time you use companion on
the lab computer you are using. If you move to another computer you will need to run the batch
file again.
Installation:
1. Select the Start button, in the search bar type or copy/paste the following:
\\ADFAPWIIS1\WLS520\A_companion\Win7_64_companion
2. Double click on the Win7_64_companion file from the start menu .

3. This should popup a command window that copies some important files from the
companion web server to your user profile on your computer.
Configuration and connection:
1. Launch Internet Explorer. Do not use Internet Explorer (64bit)
2. Enter 131.236.3.196 into browser address bar

3. If you get the Pop-up Blocker box below please select Options for this site & Always allow

4. You may get this window please tick the box Always trust content from this publisher then
click Run

5. Select Settings Management

6. Select the Licenses tab

7. Select as shown below, then press Request

8. Wait for the button to turn green then press OK

9. Launch Course Selector

10. Select the course you wish to view and press Display.

11. Your selected course will then commence.

12. The next time you use companion you only need to enter 131.236.3.196 into browser
address bar.
