Child training is the most obviously
neglected element in raising children
today. To be more precise, intentional
and purposeful training is the most
neglected element. The truth is every
day through every social interaction
with our children, we are training them
in ways good or bad. By what we allow
and or do not allow, we are
conditioning and building habits and
character traits into the lives of our
children. The question is not if we are
training, but how we are training.
Sometimes, the question may even
be: Who is training who?
Training can be illustrated with a bow
and arrow. The purpose of the bow is
to direct an arrow to an intended
target. When we place an arrow in the
bow and point it in the direction we
want it to go, we might say, we are
aiming the arrow. But another entirely
appropriate word to use would be
training the arrow. We train the sites
of a gun—or bow—on the target we
want to hit. The point is: the aiming
or training of the arrow is a
purposeful and intentional act.
You don’t just place an arrow in a
bow, pull back the string, and hope it
hits the bull’s eye. Rather, you take
some time and point—or train—the
arrow very deliberately where you
want it to go. If the arrow has been
properly trained, it will—in time—hit
the intended target.
If you wisely and deliberately train
your child to be obedient, in time,
they will be obedient. The problem is
that many parents don’t deliberately
or intentionally do these things. They
just hope they will happen or have a
haphazard plan for doing so.

Where Will I Spend Eternity?

Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer of that question.
Our Dilemma:
We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our
thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23).
Our Inability:
We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned.
We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Our Saviour:
Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the
human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour
(Romans 5:8; John 3:16).
Our Response:
Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be
saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as God’s children
(Romans 10:9, 13).

Hammond, Indiana
NECKTIE contest during the Monday-Friday, July 19-23, 2010
Morning Service. Every adult
man is encouraged to 7th-12th graders who are faithful to the Sunday &
participate. Wednesday services along with teen soul winning are
encouraged to go to Youth Conference in Hammond, Indiana.
The winner will receive a $50 The cost is $225/teen which includes transportation, lodging,
gift card to Indiana Dunes, Six Flags, and the Conference. A non-
refundable $100 deposit is due by June 20.
