Exercise -06

Procedure:
6.1

Installation of Adaptec ARO-1130U2 RAID controller card

Turn OFF power to the computer, and disconnect the power cord.
Remove the cover from the computer case. (If necessary, refer to
the instructions in your computer documentation.)
Locate the RAID port III expansion slot; Unscrew and remove the
expansion slot bracket that covers the card-slot bracket that covers
the card-slot opening.
Insert the ARO-11320U2 in the slot; press down firmly so that the
bus contacts are securely seated in the slot.

6.2

Connecting the LED Cable to the ARO-1130U2

An LED on the front panel of most computers is available to indicate non-SCSI hard
disk activity. If that LED is to light whenever there is activity on SCSI Channel A
(Controlled by ARO-1130U2), disconnect the LED cable from the motherboard and
connect it to the LED connector on the ARO-1130U2. If the LED has a two-position
cable, connect the cable to pins 1 and 2 of the LED connector.
If the ARO 1132oU2 supports multiple SCSI channels, and the LED is to
light whenever there is activity on any of those channels, refer to motherboard
documentation for instructions on setting the appropriate motherboard jumpers.
6.3

Completing the Installation

Once the ARO-1130U2 is installed in your system, refer to the documentation that
came with your computer and SCSI devices for specific instructions on setting up
your SCSI devices and connecting them to the SCSI connectors on the motherboard.
In most cases, it is not necessary to run the SCSI Select utility.
