Biafo and Hispar Glaciers 20 days

Day 01: Islamabad. Airport - hotel transfer.

Day 02: Islamabad - Chilas by bus. We take the famous Karakoram Highway, which
follows the ancient silk route linking Pakistan to China.
Day 03: Chilas - Skardu (2300 m) by bus.
Day 04: Skardu - Askoli (3050 m) by jeep. Askoli is the last village before the
Baltoro glacier.
Day 05: Askoli - Namla (3390 m) in 6 h. We enter into an incredible wilderness of
ice and rocks and trek along the Biafo glacier by an easy route. The Biafo glacier is a
huge river of ice, 63 Km long, which descends from the central Karakoram peaks and
flows east, into the Braldu valley.
Day 06: Namla - Mango (3650 m) in 5 h. We progress through unstable big rocks.
Watch out for the few crevasses that could be on the trail.
Day 07: Mango - Baintha (3990 m) in 5 h. We continue along the glacier on a
somehow more difficult trail. We establish our campsite in a grassy area dotted with
bushes, very near the junction of Biafo and Baintha glaciers.
Day 08: Baintha - Napina (4400 m) in 5 h. We walk through a crevassed iced field,
towards the junction of Biafo and Simgang glaciers.
Day 09: Napina -Hispar base camp (4800 m) in 5 h. We continue onto the
crevassed glacier to reach the "snowy lake", marking out the intersection of Biafo and
Hispar glacier. This huge basin of snow and ice (about 9.5 Km) and circled with
snow-capped granite peaks, offers a breathtaking panorama.
Day 10: Hispar base camp - Hispar Pass (5150 m) in 5 h. We climb steadily
towards the vast pass plateau. Today we use our crampons and ice axe. Knowledge
of glacier traverse basic techniques is necessary.
Day 11: Hispar Pass - Khani Basa (4600 m) in 6 h. We progress on both snow and
rocks, eventually with some crevasses. The trail carries on through screes and
moraines, flanked with iced-falls.
Day 12: Khani Basa - Jutmo (4350 m) in 5 h. We cross the Khani Basa glacier and
get excellent views of the Kunjut Sar (7760 m).
Day 13: Jutmo - Bitanmal (3660 m) in 6 h.
Day 14: Bitanmal - Foluish (3500 m) in 3 h. This stage and the following will be
done in one day in case of bad weather or technical problem had occurred during
prior days.

Day 15: Foluish - Hispar village (3380 m) in 3 h. Hispar is the highest village of
Nagar valley. It is an area of blossoming orchards and terraced fields.
Day 16: Hispar village - Huro (2970 m) - Karimabad (2440 m) Walk to Huro ), in 5
h, then drive by jeep to Karimabad Hunza (hotel)
Day 17: Karimabad - Chilas by bus.
Day 18: Chilas - Islamabad by bus.
Day 19: Islamabad. Day at leisure. Safety day for your international flight.
Day 20: Islamabad. Hotel - airport transfer.
