Candle Sales For Mental Health
It has been a year since H.O.P.E. Creative Initiatives

introduced itself to the Castlegar community. We are an
art based nonprofit social enterprise supported with the
services of Castlegar Mental Health and Substance Use.
Members of the H.O.P.E. enterprise are involved in making and selling artistic products while also offering education about mental well-being and how to access resources
for mental health and addictions.
We will be selling candles in the lobby of the Castlegar
Health Centre on Friday, November 4 and Friday, November 18 from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Also for sale will be some
cards and other items made by members of the enterprise.
The public is welcome to view the candle making studio at
the Health Centre between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm each
sale day. As we learn together through creating a viable
candle making enterprise, we are proud to provide gifts of
light and beauty to our community.

The First Poppy
Millions of Canadians wear the Legions lapel poppy

over their hearts each November. The poppy, which grew
in Flanders and has been immortalized as the emblem of
sacrifice, speaks to us of the thousands who died in far off
fields. It calls upon us to remember not only those who
have died, but those who need our protection.
On Friday, November 11 the parade to the Cenotaph
in Kaslo will begin at 10:45 am. During the cenotaph ceremony the two minute wave of silence will commence at
11 am. The cenotaph ceremony will be followed by a service in the Kaslo Legion Hall and then light refreshments
served by the Ladies Auxiliary. Everyone is welcome.
