Belief
I believe that no one should compare themselves or their characteristics to any other
individual because it lowers their self-esteem.

1. After seeing and listening how girls always talk bad about themselves has lead me to this
belief statement. Ive noticed that the only reason why they talk bad about themselves is usually
because they feel that they arent good enough like other girls and that they arent pretty enough.
They make themselves feel bad about themselves by comparing themselves to other people.
2. The trigger moment in the experience was when I noticed that many girls are starting the
doubt themselves and their abilities just because they feel like that arent good enough like other
people of an upper division. As well, when i noticed that its not only affecting them physically,
but emotionally as well.
3. I would say that the belief developed gradually because I noticed the trend that started
happening between the way that girls started treating themselves in a negative manner even
though others wouldnt see them the way they see themselves in a negative way.
4. This belief provides a framework for other aspects in my life by letting me know that I
cant continue comparing myself to others and hoping that one day ill be just like them because
we are all different and we will never be the same. In other words, I just need to continue being
myself and not letting any doubts get in my way from stopping me in achieving my goals that I
have set in life.

My I Believe Artifact

Rodas-Pablo 2
My representation for my I Believe Statement was the creation of a poem that focuses in giving the
message that we werent born to be the same, so we need to stop comparing our physical characteristics
and abilities with others in order to feel that we are good enough in the eyes of others. As well it focuses
in explaining that when we compare ourselves to others we arent doing any good to ourselves, but only
hurting our self-esteem even more. I was able to create the poem by jotting down some reasons why girls
and guys compare themselves to others and why we need to accept the real us. Some challenges that I
faced was trying really hard of not including social media of being the main reason why people act like
this, especially when it comes to comparing their physical appearances. The poem was able to represent
my deeply held belief because I was able to furthermore explain the concept in a few words and point out
a problem that society faces and hopefully help many realize that they are hurting themselves without
them even noticing.
