1. Ethiopia releases about 2,000 detainees

About 2,000 individuals detained on suspicion of taking part in


the recent violence in some parts of the country have been
released after receiving education and counseling service.
More than 1, 500 illegal weapons have also been retrieved in
close collaboration with the people, according to Siraj Fegessa,
Secretariat of the Command Post that was established to oversee
the implementation the nationwide State of Emergency declared
on October 8, 2016.
Moreover, Siraj said, over 400 individuals have so far given
themselves in using the 10-day amnesty prescribed by the
Command Post.
In a press conference Siraj gave here on Sunday, he pointed out
the gains made after the establishment of the Command Post.

The activities by the Command Post brought significant changes


by neutralizing further threats posed on the lives of people and
the enormous damage caused on private and public properties.
Siraj added the Post has also been successful in controlling the
damage targeted on infrastructures and other economic pillars of
the country.
He further noted that the Command Post played a crucial role in
normalizing the public's daily life, returning ransacked
properties to rightful owners, including allowing fully and
partially damaged firms to begin operation.////

The Command Post set up to oversee the implementation of the
nationwide state of emergency has reported successes and some
shortfalls observed in the so far implementation of the ruling.

Employees of the factories affected by the recent riot in the town
of Sebeta have resumed their work as peace and stability
returned to the localities.
The riot that led to lootings and damages on various factories in
the town subsided, allowing workers to return to their daily
duties.

Thousands of people in central Italy have spent the night in cars,
tents and temporary shelters following the fourth earthquake in
the area in three months.

5. FBI chief/Emails
The Democratic leader in the US Senate says the head of the
FBI may have broken the law by revealing the bureau was
investigating emails possibly linked to Hillary Clinton.
Harry Reid accused FBI director James Comey of violating an
act which bars officials from influencing an election.

6. Bank/repayment of loan/Sebeta
The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) said it would make
an adjustment on the repayment of loan for companies whose
properties had been damaged in Sebeta town, on the outskirts of
Addis Ababa.
Heads of the bank have visited the firms which were attacked in
the recent violence in the town.

BMT, and

Arbaminch textile, a factory jointly established by Ethiopian and


Chinese investors, are among the firms which commenced
production after the attack.
As per the request of those firms which started production, the
bank would make loan and interest adjustments as well as
provide the necessary support, said Esayas Bahre, President of
the Development Bank of Ethiopia.
Several factories, vehicles and properties were damaged by the
recent violence in Sebeta town, Oromia Regional State.///

In the currency market today, one US dollar was bought for
22.15 and sold for 22.59, one Euro was bought for 24.32 and
sold for 24. 82 and one British pound was bought for 26.99 and

behind. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola Manchester City manager
says his side needs Sergio Aguero, and that he wants to convince
the striker to become a better player.
Aguero's future at the club had been question after he didn't start
City's Champions League game against Barcelona.
He scored twice during City's victory over West Brom on
Saturday, and Guardiola said Aguero is "part of the club's
history."
He said "Sergio Aguero is one of the best. And above all that he
is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I love working with
the nice guys, and Sergio is one of them./////
