0 ABSTRACT
The following report describes the activities carried out during a 12- week, full-time internship at
the PC Rent Sdn Bhd. The document contains information about the organization and the
responsibilities performed throughout the period between July and September 2016. More than
a plain account of tasks, the objective of this text is to reflect upon the experiences collected
during the internship from the perspective of a KUPTM student in Business IT and International
business. The first part of the report offers an overview of the organization, followed by the
working plan initially agreed upon with the student and approved by the Kolej Universiti Poly
Tech Mara as a suitable internship. Following, it proceeds to describe in some detail the most
relevant projects carried out and their respective analysis. Finally, the report wraps-up with a
few closing remarks and conclusions from the experience.

2.0 OBJECTIVE
Industrial Training are provided and coordinated by the KUPTM from Industrial Training Unit
to achieve their goals in producing graduates who have an excellent level of technical
competence, the capacity of lifelong learning, critical thinking, smooth communication skills,
good behavior, business acumen, practical aptitude and efficient solution synthesis ability
good.
To ensure that efforts to achieve their goals, the KUPTM realize that each student taking
courses at universities not only need to learn and to sharpen their theoretical knowledge in
the classroom but they also need to practice all their knowledge by undergoing practical
training in industry before graduation. The general industry training to expose students to the
world of work so that they can relate theoretical knowledge learned in practice in industry. In
addition, industrial training also helps increase the KUPTM relationship with the industry
regardless from private sector and government.

3.0 ORGANISATION PROFILE

3.1 ORGANISATION BACKGROUND
Founded in 2009, PC Rent Sdn Bhd located at Pandan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur is a
company that providing PC and IT equipment rental services in Malaysia. This small
company are provide short term and long term PC and IT equipment rental as well.

More too family business in which most of their staff are their own family members
and some their staffs are internship student, PC Rent Sdn Bhd is an established PC
and IT equipment rental, computer sales and services company.
At PC Rent Sdn Bhd, they provide rental of computers, servers, notebooks,
projectors, printers and networking products. Their computer rental rate as low as
RM 50 per month for a computer. They also provide delivery and setup services for
customer functions at any location in Malaysia. They can deliver and collect
computer rental equipment to any location in Malaysia within 48 hours for giving
customer peace of mind to focus on their project because the maintenance is FREE
during rentals time. This company also supplies IT products, provides computer
services and IT solutions for small to large companies. They offer only top-quality
equipment from the major manufacturers, such as HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Apple, IBM,
NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic, Hitachi, Sharp, Sony, and much more.
PC Rent Sdn Bhd is Microsoft Authorized PC Rental Company with staff certified to
install and support Microsoft products because they already built strong partner
relationships with major software vendors in order to bring the right solution to the
right place at the right time for the client. They utilize these partnerships to keep our
processes and knowledge at the highest level across all paradigms, which PC Rent
Sdn Bhd to make the proper decisions with our clients for their business advantage.

4.0 OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING

4.1 ROLE OF A PC RENT SDN BHD COMPANY
PC RENT SDN BHD a small company that serves more towards doing business
computing and IT equipment. Not same with other computing company in Malaysia,
PC RENT SDN BHD is a company that offers rental services and free maintenance
for the installation and setup for each product that is rented PC RENT SDN BHD is
a company that are provide services such as recovery computer/ laptop/tablet, do
formatting laptop/computer, make collection and delivery, make setup and
preparation, do posting or create image of computer/laptop, do installation, testing
and other services . Among the products that are leased by this companies such as
offering computer rentals, laptop rentals, Notebook Rental, LCD projector rentals,
Ipad rental, Macbook Rental , iMac Rental , plasma display rentals, flat panel monitor
rentals ,Touch Screen Monitor Rental ,LCD / LED TV Rental and much more. The
company is also responsible for ensuring that every student who wants to find a
place to do their practical training during the training industry, their company is able
to offer a place and space for students training in this industrial training.
4.1.1

THE INTERNSHIPS RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS TASK GIVEN

Responsibility of the student or trainee to work / tasks given was to help
supervisors perform the work related to the wants and needs of
customers. Every time the company received an order from the client,
student or trainee act as assistants in completing preparation for each
order received. Students or trainees need to know the details each time
got an assignment from the technical head. Student or trainee can get
guidance from senior staff. If necessary, students or trainees are required
to perform a task/job like making deliveries or collections according to
details provided by the technical head. Sometimes trainees or students
have to make a posting in which they need to make ads about the
company in any website offering free advertising space. Suppose that
there are products such as laptop or desktop company needs to be
maintained, students or trainees have to make double checking the
product in terms of hardware or software. If necessary, students or
trainees have to make recovery image or formatting of partitions for some
laptop or desktop. Students or trainees learn the ins and outs of operation
of companies for their general knowledge.

EXPECTATION OF THE COMPANY TO STUDENTS

PC RENT SDN BHD is company that provide IT equipment services
rental. The expectation of company to student is they can give good
reaction and responsibility in do a work. Besides that, company also
expect all internship student can do a task/job given without any problem
either to client or to company. Company also expects that all internship
students can do a job/task given in groups or together as teamwork.

4.2 ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

4.2.1 ADVANTAGES
Student or trainee can do a good job in implementing and managing the
work given without referring to the more experts even though at first the
work / assignments not in the field of courses taken by the student or
trainee. In addition, student or trainee can learn and know a bit about field
of computing and website when they do work such as maintenance of IT
equipment, making recovery system for laptop or computer, TV
installation and so on. Student or trainee can learn and improve their skill
to communicate and interact with people outside when they often to do
outside work such as

making deliveries and collections of products

where their can meet various kinds of people from variety client.
This exercise also makes student or trainee to work and exposed to
teamwork environment. In this field the student or trainee must be very
sure of themselves because they will communicate with the company and
client. They can learn new things in work experience and know a bit about
computer system / laptop, gadgets and other electronic equipment.
Willing to learn all the new things also one of the things that are important
in this training period.

4.2.2

DISADVANTAGES
Students or trainees cannot be disclosed almost all of the ins and outs of
the business more towards computerization is because due to the short
period of industrial training in addition to the opportunities they need to
scramble with others internship students to pursuit of knowledge in the
field of computers and websites. They are not exposed almost all the

work because maybe it is outside the scope and beyond the level of
thinking and skills of the student or trainee.
Areas of work done is limited to only a few aspects, this is due to lack of
expertise and knowledge as a whole. This complete lack of equipment
would also cause problems to the company because not all tasks can be
performed by regular employees and service experts had expected.

5.0 DETAILES OF EXPERIENCE

5.1 GUIDELINE FOR DO PREPARATION OF PRODUCT
Normally, before we make delivery for each product released to be sent to the client
according to the order of each client, we will make preparations product to ensure
that every product released for client does not have a problem. Usually, if any
product released to customers, we will be sure and check every piece of equipment
is complete, in good condition and can working. We also make sure that all
equipment according to needs and wants of our client. For example, to make
preparations for electronic product such as laptop we will do a checking for both
software and hardware.
5.1.1

SOFTWARE
The FIVE basic software must be having such as Avira, Google Chrome,
Mozilla Firefox, VLC Player and Adobe Reader. If necessary, we will
install other software according to the needs and wants of the client, such

as Microsoft Office 2010/2007 trial version software, SAP trial version

software and others.
Ensure the system properties to make sure the bit of laptop either 32-bit
or 64-bit and also windows type according to needs and wants of our
client laptop either Windows 7/8 or Windows XP.
5.1.2

HARDWARE
Will check and ensure that all equipment is functioning like checking
network port, USB port, mouse, adapter, battery of laptop and security log
can work properly. If necessary, we will increase or decrease the rate of
RAM according to needs and wants of our client.
Make sure the laptop is in good condition and can be used by our client
without any problems. If necessary, we will clean up the laptop and the
bag to make sure all clean and pretty.

5.2 GUIDELINE FOR DO DELIVERY OF PRODUCT

Normally, delivery will be made after making preparations either same day or next
day. Before we start the delivery , we ensure we got the delivery order (DO) form
from the Head of Technical to us for know the names, locations and products for our
client. We will ensure that all equipment to be delivered complete and all equipment
are sufficient. If necessary, we will bring extra equipment (spare) so during delivery if
there have equipment not sufficient or does not work, we can change the equipment.
Then, when we reached at the delivery location and meet with our client, we will
make the installation if necessary. We ensure that all equipment in good condition
and if do not have problem with client, we need to ask the client to sign and stamp
using the client companies stamp, write his/her name and I/C number onto the
delivery order (DO) form that we brought where there has 2 copies, one for the client
and another copy we must brought back to the office. Usually we will give the invoice
to the client and if there are have payment, we will request from the client.
5.3 GUIDELINE FOR DO COLLECTION OF PRODUCT
Usually, we will make the collection from customer according to deadline that we will
get from delivery order (DO) form. During collection, we will ensure that all
equipment is in good condition and can work properly. We also bring delivery order
(DO) form to make a reference while making collection. When do not have any

problems, we bring back all the equipment and if there have payment we will ask the
client. If the product or equipment is missing or broken, the customer needs to sign
on the delivery order and our company will make some charge.
5.4 GUIDELINE FOR SYSTEM RECOVERY
As we know, the function of make a recovery image for system to some electronic
equipment such as laptops, desktops is to remove all data contained in the system
but not all data is cleaned unless additional data is entered into the system. The PC
RENT SDN BHD, equipment such as laptops, desktops and also gadgets like Ipad,
we will make a recovery image every time after we made a collection of our client.
Our goal is make a recovery image to remove the additional data that our client add
to system to avoid the virus entering our equipment and we can use it again our
products for another without storing the data of the previous client.
Step how to clear the data for gadgets such Ipad :
1) Go to setting
2) Choose General
3) Then choose reset all content
4) Set up as a new ipad after finish clean up data inside system
5) Go to any website and make homepage as a www.pcrent.com.my.
Step how to make recovery image for laptop/desktop:
1) Firstly, put in the Norton Ghost 12.0 cd driver
2) Restart your laptop
3) Press F9/F11 button (HP model), press F12 button (Dell model), press
ThinkPad blue button (Lenovo model).
4) Choose partition
5) Start recovery your laptop
6) Reinstall all basic software if necessary

5.5 GUIDELINE HOW TO MAKE POSTING

Function of posting is to promote the company product to the customer using the
other website. We will choose another website from free advertise online Malaysia.
How to make a posting :
1) Choose any free website
2) Just find the website that have Post free ad
3) Put all the details about company
4) Publish the posting
5) Save the link of the posting before send it to email of company.

5.6 GUIDELINE HOW TO MAKE An INSTALLATION EITHER SOFTWARE OR

HARDWARE
Sometimes when do preparation of equipment, we have to make installation either
software or hardware depending on the needs and wants of customers. Software
that we always install such as Avira , Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, VLC media
player and Adobe Reader. This is the 5 basic software that needs to have in every
laptop and desktop before product is delivering to the client or after making a
recovery image in which we need to re-install all of the software. We will also install
other software according to the needs and wants of the client, such as Microsoft
2010/2007 trial version, SAP trial version and so on. For hardware, if necessary, we
will make installation if customers ask. We will ensure that each installation must be
neat and all of them can function perfectly without any problems.

6.0 DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

6.1 DISCUSSION
PC Rent Sdn. Bhd has shown students or trainee about the main scope of work/task
given. The company was established to ensure that it can provide the best rental
service and among client in Malaysia. As a student or trainee working under the PC
Rent & Services, we needs to do well and carefully and properly to avoid problems
during work or during with the client. Furthermore, trainee or student should help the
company to work smoothly. Communication between supervisor and employees with
student or trainee must have to make a good teamwork and also can make the
business running smoothly and successfully.
In addition, the procedures, information and instruction are from supervisors or head
of technical should be followed. Here, student or trainee needs to help company to
running their business. Sometimes, when the supervisor is not there, student or
trainee should do their responsible do their work such as make a preparation for
each customer order. Student or trainees need to ensure that the work done by
follow all the instructions given.
6.2 CONCLUSION
Student or trainee who undergoes industrial training for almost 3 months in PC Rent
Sdn Bhd like me and my friend are really achieved all the objectives of Internship.
PC Rent Sdn Bhd is a company that has given a lot of experience and new
knowledge, especially in the scope of work involving electronic products and IT
systems. Students or trainees are not only know how to perform such as prepare
inventories of equipment or make maintenance like creating or formatting system
recovery , but also know how to make troubleshoots if a product has a not very
serious damage. If necessary, the product still in problems, then the company will
send the product to the place for repair. With undergo industrial training in PC Rent
Sdn Bhd, student or trainee is now more experienced in maintaining electronic
systems either laptop or desktop, perform the installation of LED plasma TV and so
on.
They also learn to familiarize themselves with the head of technical and internship
partner in doing their routine work such as preparation, delivery, collection, posting,
and so on. Furthermore, students or trainees can motivation and improve selfconfidence and also their technical skills during training in the PC industry Rent &

Services. Typically, students or interns will assist technical lead in doing the work to
meet the needs and wants of each customer.
Finally, student or trainee has experience and understands how the PC Rent Sdn
Bhd running their business. Them has adapted professional attitude in nice working
environment with potentially staffs. For the above mentioned, student or trainee
completed their internship and achieved the objectives successfully
