Dear Mr. Grant:
Sen. Brian Boquist has filed complaints with the Secretary of State’s Elections Division alleging
certain civil and criminal violations by Mr. Mike Nearman, the Nearman4Oregon Committee,
and others, While the Secretary of State has jurisdiction over the civil violations and the
Attomey General has jurisdiction over the eriminal violations, the facts underlying the civil and
criminal allegations are related and the complainant has expressed a concern that the civil
investigation may compromise the criminal inquiry. Accordingly, the Secretary of State”
Elections Division is hereby referring this matter to the Attorney General for the investigation of
all criminal allegations made by the complainant, and the Elections Division will abate the civil
investigation pending the outcome of the Attorney General’s criminal inquiry. The Elections
Division will determine how to proceed with the civil investigation upon the conclusion of the
criminal inquiry.
