Non-governmental expedition to Antarctica
29/10/2016 - 28/02/2017
On basis of the Belgian law of 7 April 2005 implementing the Environment Protocol to the Antarctic
Treaty (Madrid, 4 October 1991), in particular its articles 5, § 2, 7 and 8 and referring to the
Information received, | declare that the expedition from the International Polar Foundation (IPF)
organised as expedition leader by Mr Alain Hubert may be considered as covered by a permit issued
by the Belgian authorities
This permit is based solely on the estimated environmental impact of the activity as submitted by the
applicant in application of the Belgian law of 7 April 2005 implementing the Environment Protocol to
the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid, 4 October 1991) in particular its annex | on Environmental Impact
Assessment.
The applicant declared that he is well aware of the Belgian legislation applicable on the respect and
Protection of the environment in Antarctica and that they have taken cognizance of the ATCM
Guidonee for Visitors to the Antarctic (1994), the tourist guidelines (2004), the general guidelines for
visitors (2011).
Conditions to.the permit
1. Each participahtis required to hold a copy of the permit while in Antarctica
2. The recipients of this permit shall transmit within 6 weeks after the expedition a report to the
Federal Public fee Health, Food Chain safety and Environment, DG Environment" stating the
eventual impact gn tHe environment.
