4 year old

Childs Initials: E.Z

Teacher: Miss Vela

Overall Progress:
E.Z is high in all the areas I observed him on. He can identify his colors, number, shapes,
name etc. He can participate in whole group and small group activities. He is responsible to pick
up after himself. He expresses his needs and wants appropriately. His large motor is excellent
because when observing E.Z he overcame all the obstacles I gave him to do. The area he needs
work with his language. He can speak in complete sentences but it is difficult to understand him.
He can have a conversation with children and adults. Overall, E.Z is well on everything on his
area of developmental.
Intellectual:
When observation E.Z intellectual development, he was on track for his milestones. He
prefers to write with his right hand. When I asked him to tell me his colors, numbers and shapes,
he got all his colors correct other than gray. When he was telling me his colors, he had a big grin
in his face to show excitement because I kept praising him. With his numbers, he had a bit of
difficulties because he only got 1-5 correct and 10 correct as well. In my part, I need to work
with him more on his numbers so he can master 1-10. In the other hand, he is familiar with all his
shapes. I was surprised when he knew hexagon. He knows what his name is and knows how to
identify it when it is written. When identifying, and writing his alphabet he got only 2 incorrect.
By being only 5 years old, he is on track academically.
Social Emotional:
E.Z has well social and emotional development. When sharing his materials, the time I
observed him, he was having a difficult time sharing the materials with his classmates. He can
show respect to others and others property. He has no problem when separating from his
parents. When his parents drop him off, he shows no sadness or fear to be alone at school. He
seeks for help when needed. He works cooperatively with others that are in his class. He is often
with his cousin F.Q and his close friend J.D. By the look in his face, he always has a smile on his
face when coming into class. At times, I must say it looks like hes too happy at times because
hes verbal and his facial expressions show it all. When in centers, he helps clean up the area
when finished.

Work Habits:
When observing E.Z, his participation with his classmates is excellent because he is
active and wanting to be engaged. He follows directions. He can follow 2 step directions and 3
step directions. He can hold his pencil properly and handle scissors properly. When coloring his
can color inside the lines. His attention span is about 30 minutes when he is engaged in an
activity that he loves. He can follow a ABA pattern and complete task when told. The center I
noticed he was in most of the time was the art center, he expressed himself when creating art.
Language:
When observing E.Z he speaks in complete sentences to let adults know what he needs or
wants. When I was observing, him he said, she scored me when I was on the slide. E.Z speech
is difficult to understand when he was speaking to me. I did not understand certain words he told
me. E.Z takes part in conversations with adults and children. He can let us know what he needs
or wants during the time. For example, he told me, I want water from the water fountain.
Gross Motor:
While observing E.Z with his large motor skills, I saw him hop on one foot more than 20
times. By him completing the task, all you can see on E.Z face is a big grin, hes showing all his
teeth and his face is just glowing of happiness. He has the upper body strengthen to pull himself
up the bar and do pull ups. When he was running, he ran fast and did sharp turns. He can gallop.
He can skip, throw a ball, catch a ball and be willing to do exercises. He is willing to move his
body creatively with music.
Fine Motor:
When observing E.Z at the housekeeping center, he was putting on the police officer
costume and he was zipping up the zipper. His finger coordination is well for a 4-year-old. When
he goes to the bathroom, he goes alone and does not ask for keep to unbutton his pants. He holds
his pencil properly and starts to write his name. I made him a pattern to cut out and he was
handling his scissors properly. He can write his numbers and letters.
