Description

of the artefact:
This artefact, called Where Have The Frogs Gone, is from a reading assessment artefact. It is
made up of questions that come straight out of the text that the students would have read.
Students would need to refer back to the text in order to answer these questions and write
down the answer on the line provided. The use of full stops is not provided on the
assessment. Students would need to put that in themselves, however they are not told
exactly to do so. Instructions given are that students will need to refer back to the text in
order to answer the questions as well as make sure to look out for punctuations and use it
where necessary. Shown below is a teacher sample.

Catering for Diversity:
This assessment caters for diversity as such that the text provided is at a low level, and
questions that are asked are appropriate for all levels. Students who would have English as a
second language or who have difficulty reading, will be paired up with a partner and they
can work in pairs in order to find the right answer. The student at the higher level will be
instructed to help their partner and show them how to find the correct answer rather than
just do the assessment. Once shown several times, the process on how to find the correct
answer, the other student will then be able to have a turn and try looking for the answer to
the next question. This assessment is to show the teacher the capabilities of the students, to
see how well they understand what is needed to be done for this assessment. It is also to
shows the teacher if the students are able to work as team members and it also allows the
students to be able to participate in an activity where they learn to be a helpful classmate to
their peers.

Feedback:
Students are given a formative feedback on this assessment as well as verbally. Verbal
feedback is given to students while the teacher is walking around observing what students
are doing. The teacher would provide guidance and feedback if a partner is unsure as to how
to help their friend out or if a pair is unable to find the correct answer from the text.
Formative feedback is given to students once assessment is collected at the end of the
lesson and is marked by the teacher. The teacher will be marking them based on their
abilities to help one another, their abilities to be able to find the correct answer when
referring back to the text, as well as their use of full stops at the end of each question.
