ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I would like to thanks my lecturer, En. Azmi bin Ibrahim for his
valuable advices that he gave during the process of preparing the
assignment that titled Science is better with data logging in effect of
catalyst in rate of reaction and presentation on Science is better with
data logging. The advices truly help us a lot in the preparation process of
this assignment and the presentation.

Besides that, I would also like to show our appreciation to our

classmate that gave suggestions during the process of preparing this
report and presentation. Next, I would also like to thanks our friends that
share ideas, thoughts and give suggestion

In conclusion, I would like to thanks to everyone that involve directly

or indirectly in the process of preparing this assignment and presentation.

ABSTRACT
This assignment is written about science is better with data logging.
The topic had been discussed more specific on effect of catalyst on the
rate of the reaction. This report actually is based on the presentation that I
had prepared as required by my lecturer, Encik Azmi.

In the report, in the engage we had come out with all the question
about the effect of catalyst in rate of reaction. For example, we had give
an illustration about man when to class at level 7 by elevators and a man
going to class by stairs. So we collect all the question about that example.
Next in session empower we discussed about the procedure and the
experiment that had been done.

In addition in section, enhance and extension we discussed about

the used of the experiment.

INTRODUCTION

Data logging is the collection of data over a period of time,

and

is

something

often

used

in

scientific

experiments. Data

logging systems typically monitor a process using sensors linked to a

computer. Most data logging can be done automatically under computer
control. Data logging is very helpful to student in order it can give good
knowledge and increase the student towards the concepts of the
experiment that had been carried out. Examples of the types of
information a data logging system can collect include temperatures,
sound frequencies, vibrations, times, light intensities, electrical currents,
pressure and changes in states of matter.

There are many benefits that we can get from the data
logging. First of all, data logging can give more efficient data and results.
The readings that been taken is more accurate. Next, the experiment can
be left without human intervention. So we can do others thing during we
run the experiment. Compare to the previous method of experiment, we
need to observe and run the experiment within the experiment been
done. Next, better processing and presentation of results. The data
collected from the science experiment can be processed by specialist
software or put into a spread sheet. Next it also can generate line, pie or
bar graph for the experiment that had been run. In conclusion it can help
a lot in get a better results in experiment and also data collecting.

The topic of data logging had been discussed is effect of

catalyst in rate of reaction. Catalyst is the biological enzyme that speed
up the reaction by lowering the activation energy and providing
alternative pathway. It also remain unchanged at the end of the reaction.
Catalyst is widely used in biological studies and also in our daily industry.
For example in making ammonia, nitric acid and sulphuric acid.
The experiment had used data logging which need a sensor in the
experiment. The sensor that we used in this experiment is the sensor that
can detect pressure. The pressure sensor is used to measure the
production of oxygen gas. The higher the concentration enzyme catalyst,
the higher the production of oxygen gas, O 2. This is because the higher
the enzyme concentration, the higher the colliding between the enzyme
and the hydrogen peroxide. When hydrogen peroxide collide with the
enzyme, the bond between the hydrogen and oxygen in hydrogen
peroxide is break and the oxygen gas will be produce.

2.0 Science is better with data logging.

2.1 Engage
Statement: You are given two different pictures about the ways a man to
his office which is located at level 7th. Observe the pictures carefully.

Picture1.

Picture2.

Question:
1. What can you observe from the picture?
2. Which one is the faster? Why?
3. What substances have similar function as the elevator? State it
function.

4. What if there are two elevators provided and relate with time taken
the worker to arrive to the office.
Answer:
1. Picture1 show the worker when to his office at the level 7th by stairs.
Picture2 show the worker when to his office by elevator.
2. The worker by using elevators are much faster compare to the man
using stairs. This is because when we used elevators we can arrived
to the 7th level much faster.
3. This concept is same as the concept of using catalyst to speed up
any chemical or biological reaction. Catalyst is function as an
enzyme that speed up the reaction by providing alternative
pathway. The concept that been use in this case is, the alternative
pathway is the elevators.
4. If there is more than one elevator all the workers in the company
can arrived to the office much faster. So if the number of the
elevators increase, the time taken take by the worker at the
company will be decrease (shorter time taken).

2.2 EMPOWER

A. EMPOWER.
Step:
1. Teacher explained today experiment objective.
Objectives:
1. Use a computer and Gas Pressure Sensor to measure the production
of oxygen gas, O2 as the hydrogen peroxide is been destroyed by the
collision between catalyst and hydrogen peroxide in various
concentration of enzyme catalyst.
2. Measure and compare the initial rate of the reaction for this enzyme
when different concentrations of the enzyme catalyst react with
H2O2.
3. To study the relationship between the amount of oxygen gas release
and the concentration of enzyme catalyst.

4.1 ENHANCE

The uses of enzyme catalyst that we can see is when we want to

tender the meat. As we all knows it is had to tender a meat. We need to
use mallet to tender the meat. It is hard and consume lot of time. Using
mallet also required a lot f energy and effort in order to tender the meat.
In contrast when we use enyzme to tender meat. The catalyst that we
can use to tender meat are purified papain and also protease. Purified
papain canrapidly hydrolyze the protein so the meat that we can get are
more softer.
In conclusion, when there is present of catalyst , the time taken
needed to tender the meat will become shorter.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the data logging help a lot in doning scientific
experiment espicially it can collected more data accurately and efficiently.
In addition, it also provide result with the graphs and tables. In directly,
20

this can give a great effect to student to understand many concepts of

theory.
Next, in the experiment that had been discussed in this assigment
we had proved that the enzyme can reduce the consume of time. As the
concentration of the enzyme increase, the time taken will be decrease.
Enzyme is very usefull in our daily life and also in the industrial propose.
