Mathematics
1. Number Sense,
Properties, and
Operations
2. Patterns, Functions,
and Algebraic
Structures

Mobile learning is a
great opportunity
for transforming
subject matter into
a game. A QR code
hunt to find out
specific formulas
could work for a
math class and
allows students to
explore on their own
before applying
these formulas.

3. Analysis, Statistics,
and Probability
4. Shape, Dimension,
and Geometric
Relationships

Students could have a

search for different
shapes and figures in
all sorts of settings
and places through
different platforms
online or record what
they find in real life
through technology.

Reading, Writing, and Communicating

1. Oral Expression and
Listening

QR codes can be
linked to videos of
audio books (I have
seen a teacher
actually utilize this!)
This could be used
outside of the

classroom to get a
reading done to
prepare students
before class.

2. Reading for All

Purposes
3. Writing and
Composition

Standard 2:
Communication and
Collaboration would
be met through
mobile learning
practices through
applications that
allow students to
work on a document
at the same time on
different devices.

4. Research and
Reasoning
Social Studies
1. History
Students could create
projects online and
create qr code hunts for
the environment they
live in. So this would
include information of
the city or state that
they live in using real
life materials they
collected themselves,
Im thinking mostly
about images for this
example.

2. Geography

3. Economics

In class teachers
could get all
students involved
by using an app
that allows
students to
answer econ
questions during
a live poll.

4. Civics
Science
1. Physical Science
2. Life Science

Students could
use the same live
poll technology to
be pre assessed
instantly in class
about different
aspects of life
science.

3. Earth Systems
Science

Students could all

create online books
instantly that explain
different earth
systems.

Learning Disabilities EEOs

QR code hunts
would be a great
way to lead
students on guided
discoveries that
make information
more easily
accessible and easy
for these students
to find while still
allowing them to go
through a process of
discovery.

Physical Disabilities

Using different
applications for
communication in
class could be
useful for students
who cannot do the
same physical work.
So they would be
able to collaborate
with other students
equally through
voice to text.

Reflection:
The idea of mobile learning is pretty broad, and for me the best way to think of it is through some more sort of constructivist
activities and through apps that allow for easy collaboration through separate devices. I have experienced some of these ideas
and application of these ideas in some of my classes at UNC as well as through some observations, so it is nice to really recognize
and see how what I am doing and learning in this class is going to be useful and necessary. I think that this week and last about
mobile learning have really stood out and showed all of the different ways that we can use technology in small ways to boost
student exploration and collaboration with one another.
