OIL AND GAS PIPELINES

Repair of petrochemical and gas transmission piping

Oil and gas transmission pipelines can be strengthened by

wrapping the outside or the inside of the pipe (762mm
ID and greater) with Tyfo SCH systems which is typically
governed by the internal and/or external loads. Tyfo SCH
systems may also be used to retrofit joints, bends, laterals and
transition zones. New pipe segments damaged in the field prior
to installation can also be repaired with Tyfo SCH systems.
The aggressive environments where oil and gas pipelines are
installed can lead to corrosion of these oil and gas transmission
pipelines. Tyfo SCH systems are designed to supplement lost
steel sections in order to regain the original strength of the
pipeline and will not corrode due to exposure to the elements.
Tyfo SCH systems can also be used for leak remediation and for
corrosion prevention. Installation of Tyfo SCH systems must be
installed by a Fyfe certified applicator.

Certification
Tyfo SCH systems have been certified by Stress Engineering
Services (SES) per the requirements published by ASME
PCC-2, the ASME standard for repair of pressure equipment and
piping. This certification is based on structural, durability and
material testing and is unique to gas, liquid and process piping
applications. The application of the Tyfo SCH systems
is applicable to pipelines originally designed in accordance with
ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8 and ISO 15649 and 13623.
The Tyfo SCH systems were tested in compliance with ASME
PCC-2 and ISO 24817. Structural and durability testing included:
Static pressure test on control and strengthened specimen
Pressure cycle testing on control and strengthened specimen
Long-term shear strength and cathodic disbondment testing
