WEEK: 1

Welcome to week 1!
The activities assigned this first week are meant to help you become familiar
with the course platform, understand the etiquette rules you are expected to
follow, and guide you to navigate in the site while making use of the tools it
offers.
You are also expected to get to know your colleagues and e-moderator, and
get started with a few sections of the first unit.
The work assigned for this week is:
Unit Getting started Sections 1 to 6
Unit 1: How do I learn? Language (activities 1.1 to 1.11) and
Pronunciation (activities 2.1 to 2.3)
The Getting Started unit will provide you with tools to communicate with others
in the course platform, and will clarify any questions you might have regarding
course activities.
The Language section of Unit 1, on the other hand, will help you be better
able to identify and correct learners mistakes with the use of simple and
continuous verb forms. This revision will also help you improve your
professional profile.
Finally, the Pronunciation section of Unit 1 aims at helping you identify some
features of spoken language that make conversation sound more natural.
These features are: contractions and the schwa in simple and continuous verb
forms. Activities suggested in this section are simple, but build up from
listening to some recordings and analyzing them to creating and recording a
dialogue. You are invited to notice the order in which tasks are proposed, so
you can replicate the same model in any future lessons.
Im sure you will find the course tasks to be fun and useful. Ive also added
some general advice in the following page. Please take some time to read it.

WEEK: 1

A few words of advice from your moderator about

Course contents: Once you access the course site, you will notice that most of
the course contents have already been made available in the site. Youre free to
explore the units in any order, at your own pace. Yet, bear in mind the order of units
has been assigned with the purpose of facilitating comprehension.

Course tasks: Whenever you finished an activity in the platform, a tick () will
appear in the platform, so you will be able to keep track of your own progress.
Besides, to help you make a more effective use of the time you spend working on
the course activities, I will send you a weekly reminder of the course tasks you are
expected to comply with.

Study time: Make sure to arrange a study timetable so that you can devote 1 2
hours a day to work on the weekly activities assigned. If you work on a few
activities every day during the week, youll find it easier to complete all the tasks.
Remember that you will be awarded a certificate if you successfully complete 80%
of the activities in this module.

Support: Dont be afraid to ask! All questions are valid and important. Im just a
click away, so send me a message through the course platform or write me an
email. Im here to help you! You can also provide support to others by responding
to their questions in the forums, and sharing your insights and experience. Theres
nothing more rewarding than helping other colleagues.
