Executive Summary
Overview:

USD88.0bn of deals tracked in Q3 2016, a 204.0% increase from USD28.9bn in Q3 2015.


1,415 deals tracked from public sources in Q3 2016, an increase from 920 in Q3 2015.
The average deal value for investments has decreased to USD21.8m in Q3 2016, from USD34.7m in Q3 2015.
The average deal value for acquisitions has increased to USD1.4bn in Q3 2016, from USD330.2m in Q3 2015.

Deals by region:

Europe leads all regions with an average deal value of USD271.1m. North America comes second at USD67.8m.
Average deal values have increased in regions of Europe, South America and North America. However, the average deal
values in Asia/Pacific, Rest of World and Middle East have decreased.
Asia/Pacific leads the world in average deal values for investments at USD50.3m.

Deals by sector:

The number of deals has increased in all sectors. The Games sector had the most increase at 137.5%.
Total deal values have very large increase in Hardware & Infrastructure (3346.1%) and Software & Services (420.8%).
Total deal values also increased in the sectors of Marketing (190.0%), Ecommerce (65.6%), Media (26.6%) and Mobile &
Apps (13.0%). Conversely, total deal values decreased in Transactions (42.7%) and Games (14.2%) sectors.
The average deal values for acquisitions have increased significantly in Mobile & Apps (428.5%), Software & Services
(287.3%), and Marketing (234.2%). All other sectors saw a decline in average deal values for acquisitions.
