MY MENTOR
Dr. Tracy Eickhoff, O.D.
MY TOPIC
In an eye exam, there are probably more
things happening on than one thinks.
My mentor taught me that on my first
mentorship day. Diseases like diabetes or
conditions like hypertension can be
found or checked on through eye
examinations.
That especially interested me because my
mother has diabetes and hypertension.

can lead to:
Organ damage (esp. heart and kidney)
Arterial damage
Stroke
Peripheral artery disease
Vision loss

CONCLUSION
I feel like I learned important and relevant things that most people
dont know. This study is especially important to me because my
mother has both hypertension and diabetes and that is why I
wanted to focus on those two conditions.
SPECIAL THANKS TO
Dr. Eickhoff, for taking time out of her day to teach me,
her co-workers, for teaching me when Dr. Eickhoff was busy,
Mrs. Click, for allowing me to have such an opportunity,
