INITIAL IDEAS
After being inspired by the Emilys oz advert, I liked the concept of an animation which originates from children and their
ideas. Being blessed with three of my own little darlings, I have the perfect tools to carry this out. I started recording them
all individually talking about anything and everything from farts and bogies to science and falling over, with varying degrees of
success. I also used some of their drawings to help with my character designs.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
the purpose of the animation is to show examples of very short films which could be used to fill the gaps between childrens
tv shows and provide a light-hearted break from longer programmes. (similar to aardman animations creature comforts)
The films would be aimed at young children aged 4-8 but would also be appealing to adults and could be watched by families.
One aim would be to encourage children to use their imaginations more and to draw what they are thinking.

HOW WILL IT BE MADE?

The animation will consist of 2-3 characters built in maya. Each will be similar in style but with different features to show
the differences in character, such as clothing, size and facial features.
Lip syncing will prove very important and is key to the success of the animation.
Background drawings to suggest what is going on in the childs mind will accompany the character in a comical way.
Possibility of adding subtitles to help with any misunderstandings of the voices.

Character designs originally came from drawings by lucy. I took these

and worked them into characters that I could use to build in maya
and then animate. I want them to still have the feel of being
created by children, so I will animate using the 2d facial
techniques and 2d animation in tutorials.
The background graphics will be drawn and animated in photoshop and
flash. These will be in the style of crayon drawings and will be
very simply animate to reflect the feeling of the film.

WHAT I WILL SUBMIT

Short (roughly 3 minute) animations to show 2-3 examples of what the children are talking
about.
These animations will include 3d models with 2d facial rigging as well as some 2d animation in
maya and flash.
2-3 characters designed and built in maya.
Bible showing film pipeline and branding.

ANIMATICS
