Introduction:
Small talk, ice breakers (weekend plans, weather, etc)
Introduce yourself and background in dental field. Talk about hobbies,
what you like to do fo fun, passions and how you found yourself in the
dental field.
Discuss why dental hygiene is important

Describe the goals and objectives of the class. Discuss the teaching
outline, time allotted, and what the class can expect to gain from your
hour long lesson.

Flossing techniques:
Slide show, brief science and statistics to why flossing is needed and why
it is just as important for plaque removal as brushing.
Demo flossing techniques on mouth model along with slides.
Discuss different flossing aids to help with difficulties
Then group performs tasks on themselves
(gloves, floss, and table mirror needed)

Brushing techqiues:
Modified Stillmans
Modified Bass
Slideshow with statistics on brushing 2x a day and importance.
Brushing demo on mouth model for group along with slides.
Individuals perform on themselves.

Briefly discuss mouthwash and different types


Slide show/ picutes/ lecture
Periodontal disease: gingivitis vs. periodontitis
Symptoms, prevention, and other diseases (diabetes)
