A How to manual in Microsoft Word

In this manual you will learn these 10 things:


How to change fonts and size pg. 2
How to make a table pg. 4
How to insert shapes pg. 5
How to insert a text box pg. 7
How to zoom pg. 8

How to change the orientation of the document pg. 10

How to change word fonts and size:

1. Make sure youre on the home tab on the top

2. To change font click on the little arrow, this will open a drop down
box.

3. Click on the font you want but for this tutorial lets choose Comic
Sans MS

This isnt
all the
fonts in
the list.

4. After selecting what font you want you can also select the size as
well

5. you can either write down a number size of your own in the box or
click on the arrow to find a list of numbers.

6. BONUS: You can also select if you want your words to be bold,
italic or underlined by either clicking their icons or doing short cuts
on your keyboard.

How to make a table:


1. Click on insert at the top

2. Press the table icon

3. Select the amount of width and height of your table

How to insert shapes:


1. Click on insert at the top

2. Press the shapes icon

3. You can choose any shape from this list but for this tutorial lets use the

square

4. when the square icon is clicked, click and hold on the page and drag to

make a square

5. Let go and the square will appear

How to insert a text box:

1. Click on insert

2. Click on Text box

3. Once clicked on Text Box, click on Draw Text Box

4. Hold down left mouse button on the page to draw what size the text
box should be, once the size is chosen let go of left mouse button
Now you can
type in this box,
move it around
and spin it.

How to zoom:

1. To zoom you go to the bottom right of the screen and there is a slider
and a percentage, that is the zoom feature

2. To zoom in on the document you can either use the slider, use + or
and even choose the percentage from a list.
3. To use the slider you click and hold on the dot and drag right to zoom in
and left to zoom out or even press + to zoom in or to zoom out.

4. To change the percentage of zoom from a list just simply click on the
percentage to the right of the slider and choose from either 200% 100% or

75%

How to hyperlink:

1. To hyperlink you must know what website you want to link too, for this
tutorial I will use a YouTube video
2. Write what words or picture you want for people to click on to get to
that website, for this I will use the word teapot.
3. Highlight your word then right click to bring up a menu

4. once in this menu press the hyperlink button, this will bring you to a
menu
5. In this menu write in the website address in the box, then click ok in the
bottom right in the popup

6. Once clicked the word you highlighted will turn blue, clicking on this
word will take you to the chosen website, purple words mean that the
word has been clicked before

You can do the same steps on a


picture and it will work

How to change the orientation of the document:

1. To change the orientation of the word document to landscape from


portrait or from portrait to landscape, you got to the layout tab at the top
of the document

2. Once in the layout tab press the orientation icon

3. A dropdown box will appear giving you two options, portrait or


landscape

How to add a ruler:

1. To add a ruler to the document you have to go to the view tab

2. Once in the view tab tick the box that says Ruler

3. Once ticked a ruler will appear at the top of the screen

4. This ruler can help you line things up by highlighting the thing you want
lined up then holding on the little hour glass symbol and dragging it left or
right

How to make words align to the page:

1. To make words align you have to go to home tab

2. Keep the home tab up because first you need to select the words you
want aligned

3. Once highlighted click on one of these three buttons

4. The left one puts all the words to the left of the page, like this sentence
5. The middle one puts all the words in the middle, like this
6. The right one puts all the words on the right of the page, like this

How to make lists:

1. Lists includes bullet points, numbering and lettering


2. In the home tab there are 3 icons with arrows next to them, these are
lists

3. The first one, bullet points are like this
