Host Intro:
Police brutality is getting worse, it seems to be taking a toll on African Americans
and their families. Innocent African American men are having their lives taken from
them because Caucasian officers see them as being a threat to them and the
community. So, now police officers in New York City has been provided body
cameras to prevent unwarranted stops and searches for black and Hispanic men for
at least five years. Since the unrest in Ferguson of the deaths of Eric Garner on
Staten Island and Walter Scott in South Carolina, many police departments have
moved to deploy the body worn cameras. Police forces in Chicago, Houston, Las
Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington, each have 500 officers wearing the device.
Kasheena Roberts shares her thoughts on police brutality and black lives matter.

This saddening situation thats happening all over and even one of the closet cities
to us have no strict enforcement on wearing body cameras. Mary Cofield shares her
thoughts on police in New York City not wearing body cameras.

Still, not one officer in the NYPD are wearing the body cameras.

Kasheena Roberts
Its very disturbing to see on the news young black men getting killed by law
enforcement when theyre supposed to protect and serve. I feel that we should build
a rapport with the law enforcement and hopefully it alleviates this senseless act of
violence.

Mary Cofield
I.. um feel very strongly police officers especially in the state of New York should
wear the body cameras. Too many of our innocent young men are killed, shot, you
know and theres no back up. Theres no witnesses, but the cops are just just
shootingjust a shooting crazy and it just doesnt make sense to me. When you
have a camera on and youre umm arresting or after someone trying to apprehend,
you should be able to view that video.
