PROPOSED SCRIPT FOR PHASE I

INTRODUCTION
(ALL in front, lined)

I am __________________, the primary facilitator for this test. These are/ This is my fellow
researcher(s) _________________.
Do not worry, we have excused you from your professor PROVIDED you will use the time given to
participate in our research. First, I would like to ask if you are all willing to partake in our research.
(Let them say yes)
To express your approval, you will be answering informed consents later on. First of, thank you for
participating in this research.
We are here to conduct the first out of the two phases of our research. The 1st phase consists of signing
the informed consent, administration of the personality test, answering of the screening questionnaire
and then debriefing. This process will take a maximum of one hour and thirty minutes of your time.
(Distribute everything while primary faci is talking)
Before you ask any questions, allow me to guide you through each part of the test. While doing this
please do not start answering any part of it.
(Pause)
Our study is the first of its kind and has virtually not been in the research database. Results for the
personality test will be distributed upon request. We will give our contact information to your
president. We assure you that all obtained information will be held confidential and will only be used
for the purpose intended.

Informed Consent
Please look at the first page of the test.
(Pause)
The first page of the test consists of the informed consent. Read this thoroughly later on. After the
test, please do not forget to detach your copy of the form.
II. Personality Test
Turn to the second page of the test.
(Pause)

This part consists of a personality test. This will take an average of 1 hour to answer and contains 240
statements. Please refrain from making any marks on your questionnaire because the answer sheet is
already provided.
Please read all the instructions located inside the questionnaire carefully before beginning. Mark all
your answers on the answer sheet and write only where indicated. Again, please do not write on the
questionnaire. Please answer every item and take note that the answers are numbered down the
column on the answer sheet. If you make a mistake, do not erase your initial answer, but you can
make an X mark through the incorrect response.
Note that the test is a personality test, so you do not need to thoroughly think about the answers to the
questions. You just need to describe yourself honestly and state your opinions as accurately as
possible.
III. Self-Discovery Questionnaire
Please third page of the answer sheet.

This questionnaire is composed of two parts. The first part will lend us insight on the way you
perceive yourself and how you think other people perceive you. The second part is a type of
nominative survey on who you think possesses certain characteristics which are listed in the later part
of the test.
The instructions for the first part are as follows.
This is a short questionnaire that will indicate your self-perception. There are no right or wrong
answers. The circles are numbered from one (1) to five (5), which indicate the degree of how much
the term applies to you. Please shade the circle. Remember that all of your answers depend on how
you see yourself and how you think others see you.
Please take a look at the example given below.

In this case, the person chose the number 4 to describe him/ herself. The answer of 4 indicates that
the person views him/ herself as being more confident than not confident.
Please turn to the 5th page.

The instructions for the 2nd part of the questionnaire are as follows.
On the space provided, write the full name of at least one (1) to a maximum of three (3) of your
current classmates, whom you relate to with the listed characteristics. You also have an option to leave
the space blank if you do not know anyone with the characteristic listed below and you may also
repeat your answers. Please do not write your own name.
If you are done answering everything, remain seated and raise your hand so we can collect the
questionnaire and answer sheet. You may go outside or remain seated once you are done answering
the test. Just Remember to keep quiet.
If you want to go to the restroom, please raise your hand and give the researcher your id before going
out.
Do you have any questions regarding the whole test?
Again, you have an hour and a half to answer the whole test. You may begin answering.

IV. Debriefing
We are administering this research in order to understand a social phenomena and also to explore
various social cognitions. Note that our research is the first of its kind so you are the first test
participants who are being tested for this.
We might invite some of you again through text messages to partake in the second part of our
research. We will contact you via your president within the week to inform you about the specifics of
the second phase. If you are not available during the appointed time, please inform us immediately via
text message. Dont forget to include your name and section.
