1. This assignment contains only ONE (1) question that is set in both Malay and English. / Tugasan ini
mengandungi SATU (1) soalan sahaja yang disediakan dalam bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Inggeris.
2. Answer in Malay or English. / Jawab dalam bahasa Melayu atau bahasa Inggeris.
3. Learners are to submit assignment only in MS-WORD format unless specified otherwise. Please refrain
from converting text/phrases into picture format such as .gif / .jpeg / print screen / etc./ Anda dikehendaki
menyerahkan tugasan dalam format MS-WORD melainkan dinyatakan sebaliknya. Anda tidak dibenarkan

4. Download the language version of the assignment template concerned from the myINSPIRE for
preparation and submission of your assignment. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point Times
New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing. / Muat turunkan templat tugasan versi bahasa yang berkenaan

approximate word limit will be assessed. The number of words should be shown at the end of your

ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
A pourquoi story refers to an origin story. It is a fictional narrative that explains the existence
of things or why something is the way it is. For example; How the bear lost its tail, or Why
the crow is black. Myths, legends and folk tales are mostly pourquoi stories.

STUDENT GUIDELINES
1. Pourquoi means "Why?" in French. Pourquoi stories answer the wonderings of "why"
or "how" questions about animals, plants, people, objectsand events.These stories
often begin in the past A long, long time ago . . . and end when the explanation is
complete.
2. There are many samples of reviews, summaries, lesson plans, pictures, activities and
worksheets available online. You may take these as guidelines but remember that
originality counts.
3. In your search for related sources, please apply keywords such as importance of
storytelling, importance of retelling of favorite stories, development of listening skill,
concentration skill, etc.
4. Apply colorful pictures to make your picture storybook interesting and catchy!
5. Make sure that your choice of illustrations are related to the story of How the bear lost
its tail, not too complicated, relevant and appropriate for age 6 children.
TUTOR GUIDELINES
1. To advise students on how to form an in depth discussion on the use of pourquoi
stories to preschoolers, prepare the picture storybook; the content and organization;
different designs and layouts.
