Boeing Reflection

The visit that we made to The Boeing Company last Wednesday, July 27th was kind
of interesting, but personally, it was not the type of academic visit that I was hoping to
assist. I was imagining that Boeing Company was going to be so impressive, but
unfortunately, I did not feel comfortable at all. I thought that it was going to be a particular
guided tour for the different majors that we are majoring at City University, but instead, it
was just a regular tour like nonacademic people take every day at the company.
We start the tour by viewing a video about this world-renowned organization, and
then we move forward to take a bus that takes us to the different installations where they
assemble the various types of Boeing aircraft, like the 737, 747, the Dream Lifter and the
new 777X. They show us the production process that Boeing has and the different stations
where they took once single plane and where they take approximately one week to get it
done.
What I have learned as a Business Administrator it is almost nothing, because what
we mostly saw was related to engineers and what in fact I do like was the enormous
installations that Boeing has. Besides, my thoughts as a future Business Administrator
about the management of the company were feeble, even though they brought us a notable
alumnus that works at the 737 Boeing Manufacturing. He was just talking about
engineering and more engineering stuff, and most of us did not like it because it was
focused in just one major.

REFLECTION PAPER

We discuss after the mini-conference was over and we conclude that it was nice
visiting Boeing just as an educational visit, not to learn something about our career goals
(just for Business Majors). We, or maybe just me was so excited and ask for someone who
knows about the company management could answer me the questions that we made as a
homework and also prepare in the first class.
Overall, it was a pleasant visit and experience because I always wanted to know
how does a plane was build, and finally, I could saw it in person. Unfortunately, we could
not take pictures of the process or any different installations of The Boeing Company so I
can keep them as a remembrance so I can show the pictures to my family and friends, so
that could also be a major factor of why most of us did not like the tour.
