Abstract
In this paper I will reflect on my choices of the artifacts included under Domain D in my
e-portfolio. Including specific artifacts allows me to display my strengths along with some of my
weaknesses as an educator.

Running Header: DOMAIN D REFLECTION

Artifact 1
The first artifact for Domain D is a paper I wrote on the unique needs of students. This
paper discusses differentiation in the classroom. When I think of learning about students I think
of their personalities along with their needs in the classroom. In order to be able to successfully
differentiate in the classroom I need to be aware of the needs of all of my students. I chose to
include this paper as an artifact for Domain D as it discusses individualized education for
culturally diverse students, linguistically diverse students, special needs students, and gifted
students. Understanding the different types of learners in the general education classroom is
significant in that the teacher must be aware of different needs based on the different situations.
Including adaptations and modifications for those students who need it allows for greater student
success in the classroom.
Artifact 2
The second artifact I included for Domain D is an entire unit plan I created in one of my
credential classes. This paper includes many different content areas such as: social
studies/history, physical education, and even visual and performing arts. State standards are
included in the overall lesson to ensure that the lessons are meeting content standards. This
artifact displays my ability to successfully plan instruction for different subjects in an overall
unit. This artifact shows I am able to plan for multiple subjects throughout the day to ensure that
I am teaching the standards necessary to my students.
Artifact 3
For my final artifact for Domain D, I chose to write a literature review of the first chapter
from the book The First Six Weeks of School by Paula Denton and Roxann Kriete. The first

chapter of this book discusses the first week of school, including goals, and a sample schedule
for the first week. I found the first chapter of this book very beneficial as it allowed me to review
the importance of setting routines and procedures in the first week of school which will allow me
success in instructional planning. Since I have yet to set up my own classroom at the beginning
of the year I found the first chapter of this book extremely beneficial. I felt as though Domain D
was the best place to include this literature review as I believe by setting up routines and
procedures a teacher is better able to prepare for instructional planning. I also learned from this
chapter the significance of ensuring that students feel safe and comfortable in their classroom,
with this I believe that it is extremely important to get to know the students in my class.
